$700 million DH. Hahahaha... good luck with that LA.
Agreed. If he was as good of a pitcher as he is hitter I would be significantly more worried. He can be pitched around. Mookie and Freeman are aging, fast. IMO.

Edit: don't know if it was a for sure thing about his pitching status moving forward. :/

$70 million a year is a lot for a DH if he doesn't regain his form on the mound.

This isn't correct for the state portion. Players are taxed per game check and it varies on the state the game is played in. Some states don't have state income tax.

Athletes must file returns in all of the jurisdictions where they play that have an income tax. Careful tax planning can minimize an athlete's state income tax, but for many athletes, there are more important things in life than minimizing taxes

There is also a limit on Medicare tax and is only taxed on the first 200k earned.

But none of this matter, Ohtani can file as a nonresident alien (NRA) and avoid paying that high of an amount.

Generally, if you are a NRA athlete or entertainer performing independent personal services or participating in athletic events in the United States, you are subject to the following special tax and withholding rules.
