Mike Brown was Coach of the Year in 2023. He also signed a new contract.

The Kings fire head coach Mike Brown. Doug Christie is expected to be the interim head coach.

I finally get how some of you older folks felt seeing the players you grew up watching become coaches. With Kidd, Christie, Luke Walton, Willie Green, and others becoming coaches I can't help but feel old.

Hope Christie does well in Sac-Town.

I remember a running joke where Coach of the Year was a death sentence. It raises expectations and puts a timebomb in your lap. There was that year George Karl won it in Denver, I think, and he was fired shortly after. As in the same off-season.

Losing five home games in a row doesn't help, with the last loss coming at the hands of the Pistons.

Yeah, in 2023 Monty Williams was fired after winning NBA COY in 2022 with Phoenix.

I just saw ESPN SC played a clip of Denver's coach coming to the defense of Mike Brown. When speaking of Sacramento's management he said something like no class no balls lol. wow!

Kind of funny but the last coach who should be speaking right now. If Jokic wasn't amazing and carried Denver through a cakewalk of a playoff run for a finals, Malone wouldn't have a job. He's regularly bashed by NBA media for how poor of a job he's done actually coaching. Their entire system is "Pass to Jokic" and they even tried alleviating his non Jokic issues by giving him Westbrook, who is far beyond the point he can run a system on his back consistently. Russ needs talent also and putting him in charge of the Nuggets B Team hasn't worked that well.

It was a bit harsh to fire someone right after Christmas but we are talking about millionaires with guaranteed contracts. I won't pity any of them for being canned, regardless of the date.

This is partially because the bar is so high. If you win coach of the year, the general idea is you were capable of miracles. When you don't follow that up with a bad season? It appears most of the time you are gone.

it seemed like the Denver coach had an axe to grind. I think they showed comments from Rick Carlisle as well. I didn't hear what he said, but I'm not the biggest fan of Rick anymore with how much of an A-hole he is.

What is weird is what happened this off-season. Did you see the photos a couple months prior? He was in the best shape I had ever seen him in. Then something happened and he let his weight balloon up again. Why do all that off-season work just to throw it away come season time?!? It baffled me.

It’s a weird thing that happens. Same thing with Diaw and Zion. Summer pics show them lean and more trim.

He probably stayed in shape for the olympics, took him a bit longer to fatten up.

I have had friends that are europeans, and they claim our food is way more fattening than what they have in Europe. One gal I knew her mom mailed her a box of food from Europe to eat and she literally lost the weight she gained while living here in a month. Plus with all the travel these guys do, it is probably really hard to get clean food everywhere you go.

The Lakers agree on a trade for Dorian-Finney Smith and Shake Milton.

That is true and their food is very different. Going to a British grocery store for example was more foreign for me than going to a mexican grocery store even with everything in English. And the name brand products that you recognize probably have different ingredients that are better for you. In Europe they dont always ship everything as far as we do. Almost everything is locally produced there. I gained 10-15 pounds within a few months after moving back.

Ugh, why do teams help the Lakers ... so annoying.

It's all about the Nets gaining draft picks and the Lakers saving money. One hand washes the other.

Btw, if the Suns should blow it up, they will be doing the same type of thing.

Our food is typically fattier and the portions are much larger.

However, I think Doncic goes home for the off season. He chubs up in Europe. My guess is he isn’t doing much to stay in shape, rather than pigging out.

I guess it depends on the part of Europe, but many work their own garden so they have fresh fruit and vegetables, are much more active and eat less meat.

The start of tonight’s game between Minnesota and San Antonio will be delayed due to an issue with the game court. The court has been replaced and the game is now scheduled to tip at 8:10 p.m.

A key note for all of the contending teams vying for Cam Johnson in trade talks with the Nets:Johnson’s salary will actually count as $27 million instead of $22.5 million due to incentives within his contract. For teams restricted in the apron, they must exceed that number.

If you want to lose weight you should eat more meat, just not in fast food or fried fashion. Luka has the body composition and face of a junk food eater and drinker.

Variations of the Keto diet work, however, I don't think I could follow it because I like carbs too much.

When I followed a low fat diet, it was probably the strongest and healthiest I have ever been.

A balanced diet while strictly limiting sugar and other processed foods is the best way to go AFAIC. I wouldn't recommend a Keto or Paleo diet (too hard on the arteries) but some of the principles make sense (to me). I avoid frying, eat a lot of veggies, salmon two or three times a week and make lunch time my big meal of the day and that's helped me get my weight down and maintain it. If Luka played for Phoenix, I'd be trying to get him to do the same thing. But since he plays for Dallas, I recommend lots of heavy sauces/gravies and saturated fats.
