Not sure what Toronto is doing. They paid good money to R.J. Barrett, overpaid Ingram, and Barnes is due for an extension. They all bring similar skills to the table also. Real head scratcher there. Not like Ingram has value since he'd been made available since the off-season by New Orleans and it took them that long to find a suitor. Barrett isn't awful but he's not worth his contract. Barnes is ok but he'll likely get max deal because he shouldn't settle for less than Ingram.

Hard to believe the guy who built their title team also constructed the current roster.

My guess is Toronto is trying to add star level talent to the team no matter the consequence, not unlike the Suns, but at least they are investing in younger players.

Barnes already signed an extension 5yr/$225M starting next year. (up to 270M if he hits supermax criteria, though that's very unlikely at this point)

The salaries are pretty atrocious for Toronto next year. They'll already have 32.5M for Quickley, 28M for RJ Barrett, 38M for Scottie barnes, 19.5M for Poetl and now 40M for Ingram. That's over the cap already.

Free agent 7-footer Alex Len will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, agent Mike Lelchitski tells ESPN. Len intended to sign with the Pacers but has decided to land in LA after the Lakers rescinded the Mark Williams trade and created new opportunity.
