Okay.

But with the season on the line vs. CAR, they got lit up like a Christmas tree. When we needed them the most, the defense was routed by Bryce Young and the lowly panthers.

I'm all for JG/NR, and I agree the defense overachieved in 2024. 100%. I'm excited to see what they can do in 2025 with a couple more impact players.

And, there is no argument that Kyler leads the team in non-clutchness.

But it's a little bit of a theme with this entire group.

Can someone tell Mark Dalton he can just not tweet? In the last six games of the season (post-Thanksgiving), the Cards gave up 23.8 PPG. Half of their opponents (Seattle, Carolina, SFO) exceeded their average offensive production when playing us.

Congrats to JG and Nick Rallis!

I'd be surprised if he doesn't come back; that would be hugely disappointing. He's almost certainly worth more to us than anyone else. I'm sure he thought he'd get done in-season.

Did you all know that Kyzir White was drafted and first played Safety in the NFL? He's gained about 15lbs since then, but I wonder with Rabbit showing promise, Thompson or Baker might move to LB? Thompson is the biggest of the three.

Just thinking out loud. Hopefully White is back and this is just part of negotiating.

I feel like Wilson being out had a larger impact than expected, which would show that Barnes and Poopooee are not great backups.

Oh man… didn’t the defense get the ball back 3 times at the end of the Panthers game?
God lord. Detroit, Buffalo and other good teams have off days.
Talk about, “when we REALLY need it”this offense puts up 9 against the Rams and 6 against the Seahawks.
We are not 8-9 because of the defense.
Just score 20 points against the Rams and Seahawks and we are 10-7.

Agree. Personally I think Wilson is our best LB. If I was starting a team, here are the first five defensive players I would pick:

1. G. Williams
2. Budda
3. Wilson
4. DRob (dangerous I know)
5. ??? Probably Kyzir but I'd think seriously about taking Rabbit or maybe even Browning. How sad is that?

I'm over JT who disappeared after he got the bag, and I'm not that impressed when I watch Melton play.

The defense did get the ball back in crunch time a couple of times vs. CAR and at least once against BUF too. You're right, and Murray did not get it done. No argument here.

But the defense still gave up 30 to CAR though Slan. That's not good enough in a must win game.

Again, I'm proud of the defense overall. They have one vetted impact player in BB. G. Williams is on his way too, and DRob is still a maybe, but after that, the cupboard is pretty bare. Yet like you describe, they kept us in several games against some good offenses. Excited for the future.

I agree. However we are going to be dealing with this enigma of Kyler/Petzing, Petzing/Kyler this entire off season.

To be fair, how many of our defensive starting 11 would start for at least half of the other 31 teams? One, BB? Maybe M. Wilson?

I agree the statistics are a little misleading, but given the overall talent level, sure, NR earned his salary this year.

Garrett Williams, Kyzir White, Baker, Thompson, Collier, Stills, Melton, SMB are all average starters or better. It’s not like there was nothing there.
