With the high school girls basketball season across the state concluding last weekend in Dayton, the Ashland Times-Gazette's gives you the All-Area Girls Basketball Team for the 2024-25 season.
More: 'The bar has been raised': In defeat, Ashland girls basketball proves it's here to stay
Last season, Lacey was the only freshman to make the Ohio Cardinal Conference and District 6 First Team. In her sophomore season, she made both again, landing on the OCC and Division III District 6 First Team, as well as the Division III All-Northwest District First Team behind numbers of 14.2 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 2.4 APG, 2.1 SPG on 46 FG%. This year's OCC Player of the Year helped lead the Arrows to 20 wins and a banner season for Ashland girls basketball.
The Arrows junior center continued her strong play from last season, in helping lead Ashland to league and district titles. Cox (7.5 PPG, 7.3 RPG) earned spots on OCC First Team, Division III District 6 Second Team and Division III All-Northwest District Honorable Mention.
The Arrows junior combo guard gave Ashland a little bit of everything from outside shooting (27 made 3-pointers) to ball-handling duties with Cienna Steury to providing enough scoring (second on team at 10.0 PPG). Hoffman's 21-point performance in Ashland's Division III district final win over Norwalk was crucial in the Arrows winning their first district title since 1979. She was named to the OCC First Team, Division III District 6 Second Team and Division III All-Northwest District Third Team.
The senior guard (team-high 9.1 PPG) helped the Cougars finish 12-11 and place fourth in a Firelands Conference that was pretty steady at the top with teams like New London, Mapleton and Monroeville. McFarland found herself on the Firelands Conference First Team, Division V District 6 Second Team and Division V All-Northwest District Honorable Mention.
The junior guard (8.6 PPG) was a Firelands Conference Second Team choice, and made Honorable Mention on both the Division V District 6 and Division V All-Northwest District teams.
The senior center grabbed more responsibility this season for the 16-9 Redbirds and it showed on the court. Felix led Loudonville in scoring (9.9), rebounding (10.5) and added 1.8 steals per game, as she was a Knox Morrow Athletic Conference First Team and Division VI Northeast Inland District Second Team performer.

From sixth man as a sophomore to starter as a junior, Wolford provided plenty of punch for the Redbirds this season, as she helped Loudonville reach the Division VI district final. Alongside backcourt mate senior Sydney Strouse in handling the ball, Wolford was able to contribute in different areas (8.4 PPG, 4.1 RPG, team-leading 3.4 APG and 4.8 SPG) as she was a KMAC Second Team and Division VI Northeast Inland District Honorable Mention choice.
In helping guide Mapleton to an 18-6 record (most wins since 2014) and a second-place Firelands Conference finish (11-3), Bergosh had a case to be made as the top performer in the league this season. That honor went to Monroeville's Grace Stieber but the senior post/wing player was more than worthy. Bergosh led the Firelands Conference in scoring (13.0), scored 312 total points (11th most in school history for a single season), added 6.5 RPG, 3.7 SPG, 1.7 APG, 0.9 BPG, made 28 3-pointers, was a Firelands Conference First Team and Division VI Northeast District 4 First Team selection.
Paired together, Hess and Bergosh formed quite the scoring duo. As a freshman, Hess held her own, as she had well-rounded season. The freshman averaged 10.4 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 5.0 APG, 4.5 SPG, 2.3 BPG, made 36 3-pointers, led the conference in steals, blocks and assists, made the Firelands Conference and Division VI Northeast District 4 First Teams.
New London's success the last two years as a team has been built more on the "sum of all parts" so when it comes to choosing who might be their best or their most valuable players, it's tough to do. But they have key players that played into the Wildcats winning back-to-back Firelands Conference titles, while also going undefeated in both years.
Henry (8.9 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.5 APG, 2.0 SPG) is one of them, as the junior grabbed point guard duties midseason when starting point guard Raeann Mitchell went down with a season-ending injury and brought plenty of toughness at that. She made the Firelands Conference First Team, the Division VI District District 6 Second Team and Division VI All-Northwest Second Team.
