If we go back to the inception of the current iteration of the NFC West (2002), here are the updated numbers.

49ers 7 times
Seahawks 10 times
Rams 5 times
Cardinals 3 times

3 divisional championships in 22 years

One common denominator in that span and it's not changing no matter who is the QB.

At least with our other two teams I see owners trying to win

Fun.

Now go back to the last time before that...1974 and 1975.

Then go back to the last time before that...1947 and 1948.

Then go back to the last time before that....1925.

Notice a pattern?

8 divisional championships since 1920.

Yeah...we are abysmal. :newcards:

You think that is bad?

Since 1970 the Jets have won the AFC Eastern Division only twice, in 1998 and 2002, the fewest division titles among NFL teams in the post-merger era.

TBF, most FA players come with warts. The appeal of Osa is that he does the one thing the current group of players doesn't do, pressure the QB. Unfortunately that ability does not come cheaply. I think the Cardinals have extra money which is why I feel he should be a priority signing. That said, the Cardinals will not be the only bidder.

Right, to me the biggest weakness of the defense is winning pass rushing snaps, especially inside, where we aren’t blitzing. Would love to get a guy or two that can do this.

If we break the bank for one guy who would it be. Pass rusher ( Sweat ) or KC guard

Too slow to fit my thoughts. He’ll cost too much for a 3rd WR, but Murray would trust him. If other stuff doesn’t work out, maybe.

He was actually having a decent season before he broke his collarbone. I don't think he's as fast as he used to be but for the right price maybe bring him back.

My thing with him is he seemed to have so many drops. If we're going to spend money on a guy who isn't burner, I'd rather get someone who gets open and catches the ball. We need a Pat Tilley or Ricky Proehl type guy as well as a burner IMO

He’d fit my 5 slot if no speed guy is available. He reminds me of Ricky Proehl.

Due to the trade restriction Eagles put on Jets, this wasn't really feasible.

However, this makes sense as a free agent signing if Gannon was being honest below (seems to fit his defense).

Not sure he’s the type of player they’re looking to sign. He doesn’t play as well against the run. He’s had issues with both teams he played for. Admittedly the Cards handled him less than optimally, but not sure they want to take the chance. It’s going to be a lot of money with high risk.

The more I think about it, if we want to remove more excuses let’s go out and sign Tee Higgins. He would draw a lot of attention away from MJH. Suddenly the Wr room could be dynamic.
There is absolutely no reason why the team couldn't do this, unless the player doesn't want to sign. The Cards have a ton of cap space, very little cap invested in the WR room, and a glaring need. Fill out the OL and some D positions in FA, sign Higgins, and go D heavy in the draft.

That said, it will never happen. Makes too much sense. Monti would poo his pants in anxiety just at the idea.

This team needs a burner (Dortch is more quick than fast), and they are usually out there in the draft later, but you have to find the guy who catches better than the other guys with speed who were just good enough at catching not to be a CB. Michael Wilson reminds me of JT Smith and serves as that possession guy in my opinion. BTW, Zay Jones when not serving as a 'PI decoy" made one pretty toes tap catch on the sidelines last game.

You want to pay Higgins $28-$30M per year...a guy who averages about 1k yards per year in a throwing offense?

MHJ is already as good as him.

Spend that kind of money on a difference maker.
