The 89th edition of the Masters Tournament will feature five amateurs competing at Augusta National. While no amateur has ever won a green jacket, if they make the 36-hole cut, they will have the opportunity to win the prestigious Silver Cup, a symbol of their achievement and a chance to be honored alongside the Masters winner.
The Masters tournament has a rich history of past amateurs who have gone on to make a mark in professional golf. The likes of Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Patrick Cantlay, and Viktor Hovland all participated in the Masters before their professional careers took off. This year, the participants include Hiroshi Tai, the first player to represent Singapore at the Masters, 2024 U.S. Amateur winner Jose Luis Ballester, Noah Kent, Justin Hastings and Evan Beck.
Here are the predictions from USA Today's golf experts on the low amateur finish.
