The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off Thursday in Green Bay, Wisc. and the Miami Dolphins have no shortage of options with how to handle their No. 13 overall pick.
In this mock, the Dolphins take advantage of an opportunity to pick up more draft capital via a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Scroll to the bottom for the full explanation of the move:
In this scenario, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders fell out of the top dozen picks so a call was answered from Pittsburgh when Miami was on the clock. The Steelers sent the No. 21 pick along with No. 83 in Round 3 and a 2026 4th-rounder to move up the eight slots to pick their quarterback of the future.
Now at No. 21 for Miami, there's a chance to fill a major need with Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant. There was a faint hope at landing his teammate Mason Graham; however, the Chicago Bears selected him at No. 10. Other intriguing targets off the board included Armand Membou, Tyler Warren, and Will Johnson. So when the fictional phone call came in, Miami moved back and still landed a Michigan man.
Grant is a high-ceiling interior defensive lineman with a great blend of size, athleticism, and power, mixed with the versatility to play multiple areas on the line. Miami gets a sorely needed pairing with Zach Sieler, as the Dolphins' defensive line is lacking depth and a viable starter after veteran Calais Campbell opted to join Arizona in free agency a few weeks ago.
Grant helped Michigan win the 2023 CFP National Championship and finished the 2024 season with 32 combined tackles, seven for loss, three sacks, and five passes defended while adding a pair of fumble recoveries. In his three-year collegiate career, he tallied 69 total tackles, 12 for loss, and 6.5 sacks. He was a Third-Team All-American and Second-Team All-Big Ten selection.
In this model, Miami enters Day 2 with an extra pick from Pittsburgh that should allow the Dolphins to address the offensive line and the secondary.
