I actually think the practices are almost as important as the game itself. A lot of the nice highlights of players like Ladd McConkey and Quinyon Mitchell I saw last year came in the practices. The issue with all star games. I’m often asked how important are all star games for player evaluation. It’s of limited use. The lack of coordination amongst the players informs you to be cautious about making major evaluation adjustments. Some things are valuable like see an Olineman drive blocking an anchor tackle. Watching a receiver and CB compete for a pass. You can observe body catching though be careful because of the lack of familiarity with throwing style. Other things can be misleading. A bad pass can be a simple lack of time working together. Runners can fail to use blocks because their anticipation is misguided. Pass rushers get through because there is little if any film study of tendencies. Pure speed can be noted and agility. It’s just challenging. I value game study as much more valuable.
Agreed! I saw some nice highlights of both top shelf and unheralded talent. I just posted the same thing before I saw your comment.I think the practices are far more important than the actual game. You get to see these guys in one on one drills against their peers.
Vinson looked good today. It’s an important week for small school players.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
I liked what I saw from Green and Nolan today. Same with Shamar.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
I see why scouts are down on Walker. Great size but he has no idea what he is doing. A lot of work to do but also a lot to work with.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
I was under the impression that 6072 equates to six feet, seven and two eighth (i.e. 1/4) inches.I believe that is read six feet, seven and two-fifths inches.
This is the way I understood it alsoI was under the impression that 6072 equates to six feet, seven and two eighth (i.e. 1/4) inches.
If someone has a final digit of '7' and no one has a higher one, that would be pretty good confirmation.
Aha - Google found this random page, which says the same: https://www.bigcatcountry.com/2014/2/21/5432968/nfl-combine-measurement-results-wide-receiver
Texas A&M DL Shemar Turner, a likely Top 50 pick, had to pull out of the Senior Bowl after learning that a stress fracture from camp, that needed a rod inserted into it, never fully healed, sources say. Turner, who played on it all season, was advised to have no impact on his leg for 3-4 weeks to let the bone finally heal. He plans to do Combine interviews and perform at his Pro Day.
No bid deal and unlikely to impact draft status.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
He's got that dawg in him for sure.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
its a good questionWhy wasn't Shermar Smith all that productive at A&M?
1 - re: Shemar Stewart: He doesn't know how to finish and his bend is not that of an edge guy because he is so big. h eis raw and should get better. Why wasn't Shermar Smith all that productive at A&M?
I'm really starting to like the trade back and grab Mike Green. Explosive, fast, can bend, and gets after the QB. Very productive.
He created a ton of sacks for his teammates. You see that very quickly when watching him. and his "just misses" will drive you crazy. I do think it will get better though.its a good question
@Harry you know how scouts love it when a little dude jacks up a big dude that is setting for a speed rush.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
