#226 Wr McCoy

IMO McCoy is a project. If he shows potential during training camp will be put on the practice squad and play next spring in Europe.

We got stuck with him because Tampa took Paris away from us. Really though, at least we did not get stuck with a reciever named Paris, that name alone dropped him 3 rounds.

We did however have a safety named Paris Johnson once.

Just Guessing But...

Cards went into the draft lacking a receiver with true blazing speed and explosion to compliment Fitz, Q and BJ.

The rolled the dice on a physically talented youngster with a whole slew of character issues.

He was timed at 4.40 at the Combine and is known for explosion and "impossible to catch" top-end speed.

Unfortunately he doesn't like to block, has concentration lapses, has had "incidents" both on and off the field, lacks motivation etc. etc.

Let's remember that Dennis Green took a problem kid with a world of talent from Marshall U and Randy Moss went on to be the best WR in the pros. Can he repeat with McCoy? Hmmmmmm. Well, let's put it this way - with the #226 pick in the draft:

Note - It just occurred to me that a good friend of Coach Green spent considerable time in the Valley Forge area. Receiver by the name of Fitzgerald. Maybe he knows McCoy. Maybe he lobbied Dennis. Maybe...

He's the real McCoy! Actually LeRon was a WR sleeper on many draft boards...he turned a lot of heads at the combine with his 4.4 speed. Yeah, he's raw and from a small school, but that's what defines a sleeper...he's probably got a 50/50 chance of making the roster. If he can be an effective gunner on cover teams...his chances improve significantly...but, the real hope is that he can be an explosive player in the slot on 4 WR sets.

I didnt say hed be a better person he will be a better player. Pat was a great man and words can not describe what he and so many others do/did but he was not a great football player. I respect what he did but he was not a good football player.
