Crawled Through 5 FB Fields
QB (3): Palmer, Gabbert, Stanton
* BA keeps all three because of his excitement about Gabbert's potential and his loyalty to Stanton..and wanting to have as much depth at the position as possible. BA could create a read option package for Gabbert to give him some situational playing time.
RB (4): Johnson, K. Williams, Penny, Logan
* Williams gets his chance as the #2 RB. Penny is the power RB and Logan is the change of pace 3rd down RB and KO returner.
* Possible sleeper: James Summers, East Carolina.
TE (3): Gresham, Niklas, Momah
* Obviously, Niklas has to stay healthy and Momah has to beat out Hakeem Valles (which should be a close competition throughout camp).
* TBD: UFA or waiver wire TE acquisition.
* Possible sleeper: Ricky Seals-Jones, Texas A&M.
WR (6): Fitzgerald, Jo. Brown, Nelson, Ja. Brown, C. Williams, Hogan
* If Krishawn Hogan at his size and speed makes a splash on STs, he sticks. His physical talents are difficult to ignore.
* Andre Ellington will have to stand out and make top 5 to stick. Backups really need to be factors on STs and Ellington is not that guy.
* With the ability to keep 2 veterans on the PS, Brittan Golden should be one of them and will be promoted if and when needed.
* Possible sleepers: Jeremy Ross if he wins the PR job and Larry Clark, Colorado Pueblo, who has caught BA's eye in a big way.
OL (9): Humphries, Iupati, Shipley, Boehm, Veldheer, Wetzel, Toner, Do. Johnson, Holden
* Possible sleepers: Ulrich John and Givens Price at T and Tony Bergstrom at C/G.
NT (2): Peters, X. Williams
* Possible sleeper: Pasani Tasini, Utah as a short yardage, goal-line penetrator.
DE (5): Nkemdiche, Mauro, Rucker, Gunter, Pierre
* Because Peters and X. Williams are versatile, look for the Cardinals to keep 7 interior DTs/34DEs (not 9 like last year) and stack one on the PS (Stinson).
OLB (4): C. Jones, M. Golden, J. Jones, Fua
* BA said that they are working Fua at OLB, knowing he could also help at ILB and on STs. A roster spot could come down to the choice between Fua and Kareem Martin, if Martin shows up in the pass rush.
* Possible sleeper: Cap Capi
ILB (4): Dansby, Reddick, Wright, Bucannon
* If Bucannon starts the season on the PUP or IR, then Gabe Martin sticks in the meantime.
* Larry Foote has been raving about Scooby Wright, saying he underestimated Wright's playing speed. Wright should be a dynamo on STs.
* Possible sleeper: Tre'Von Johnson, Weber St.
CB (5): Peterson, B. Williams, Bethel, Ford, Bouka
* Bouka could win the PR job and (like Bethel and Ford) be a standout on STs.
* Possible sleepers: Jamal Rolle, UFA and Sojourn Shelton, Wisconsin
S (5): Mathieu, Baker, Bethea, Branch, Miller
* BA said that Harlan Miller continues to impress with his range and ball skills at FS.
* Possible sleepers: ironhead Gallon, Georgia Southern and Drico Johnson, Central Florida. Both are aggressive tacklers and could win STs spots.
ST (3): Wile, Brewer, Dawson
* Possible sleeper: P Richie Leone.
Comment: The team could use some added competition at RB, TE, DT/DE, ILB, OLB, CB. But, the roster is a commendable blend of veterans and youth.
