I found it full of plot holes and generally very predictable. It was ok, IMHO, maybe 3 out of 5 stars. I own a lot of movies, but I won't be buying this one when it's released on DVD. I can think of a number of westerns that I enjoyed much more.

It wasn't a turkey, but it certainly wasn't an eagle, either. Some very good performances, but excruciatingly slow.

I just couldn't get excited about it, although I went into the theatre pumped for it. But as happens so many times, the trailers were better than the movie.

I saw it, finally -- 3.5 stars. Not great -- good, but I agree, the pacing lacked energy (I attribute that to Russell Crowe's overly-laid-back style in most roles).

The Judges will accept that as funny, but they would prefer that you call it Carl's Juniors. Seems funnier that way.

This judge agrees.

Loved it.

....though I think they could have given a better glimpse into Crowe's character's past to set up the sacrifice at the end. You had to do a lot of dot connecting to get it, I think.

Just watched it. Wow. I had high expectations and they were blown away. I have to disagree with you Pariah, I think it was perfect how they slowly revealed Crowe's true character. Especially his line about what it takes to lead a crew like his. Made for one hell of an ending.

I loved how the film was shot, it felt like I was right there with them. This is one of the rare occasions of when a remake is able to retain the soul of the original while still improving upon it.

Finally showed up in the mail last week. Watched it, and holy crap, wow. Fantastic film. My first Netflix 5 star film in quite some time. Fantastic movie. Hell, even my wife who eschews westerns loved it...

I don't generally like westerns, but I really enjoyed this film. Russell Crowe has a tendency to star in movies I don't really want to see but end up liking in the end (Cinderella Man, Gladiator).

I am not a Crowe fan or a Bale fan, but I enjoyed this film. I think the best actor in it was Ben Foster. I think he just carried that ruthlessness well. Definitely worth the time to watch.

Did I already post my problem with Bale's character being able to suddenly run full speed with an artificial leg from the 1800's including leaps from rooftop to rooftop?

Silly.

Dude. He's Batman. He can do that and more. He'll beat you within an inch of your life with that fake leg (but it still won't stop the nightmares. It still woon't bring his parents back).

wait a minute...wasn't the train they were supposed to catch the "3:10 to Yuma?" If so, they weren't in Yuma.
