According to reports at least three teams have called the #Cardinals for permission to interview DC Todd Bowles. #Vikings #Browns #Lions

...so far.

Lets hope like hell he doesn't get a HC gig, cause it would be a major blow to this team IMO!

IDK if Bowles awshucks demeanor screams HC material. I think he is uber smart so should probably interview very well. Hope he doesn't get promoted this year but do expect him to get a shot sooner than later.

I'd like him to stay but did people learn nothing from this year? So many people positive losing Horton was going to kill the defense and constantly ripping Bowles early in the season.

Assuming we retain most of the talent we'd likely be able to bring in another DC who could still coach that talent to a good defense, hell Horton might even be available again.

Both of them did very good jobs here but the key is we have lots of talent on defense.

I agree. Plus he seems like a quite guy, whom appears to have a low key voice in the interviews i have seen him which to me will hurt his chances IMO...hopefully

.

I just can't see that happen considering how pissed he was when he didn't get the job. I still think someone told him, he was likely the next Cards HC for him to act like that.

Yes we have talent, but dont underestimate the importance of the DC. I will assure you Russ great 3-4 DC's don't grow on trees & it takes talent, scheme & a play caller to make it work!!! Pendergast, Davis cough cough :D

This is where the Rooney rule is a bit messed up. It's difficult to know who has true interest vs who is just satisfying the rule.

This screams Rooney Rule but then again, Lovie Smith is out there, Leslie Frazier just got canned so maybe these teams have genuine interest, Bowles does have youth on his side. If Bowles does bolt then maybe ARZ takes a look at Lovie Smith?

Lovie is not going to interview for the Rooney rule and will only interview for something he wants. Frazier was terrible and is getting paid and just got fired today. To me Horton and Bowles seem like the to obvious choices to interview since they both want to be a HC one and need the interview practice. I will be interested to see if Horton has been requested for any of the jobs yet.

Got a better idea. I can't see another way at this point to make everyone happy.

Would it be right to interview Lovie, hire him on the spot & not interview a white candidate?

Leslie Frazier landed that HC position with the Vikes because they were impressed with the job he did as their DC . If Bowles finds an opportunity and runs with it , I think we should grab Frazier by the arm and pull him straight to the desert , not wait around til he lands somewhere else .

That is if he even wants to coach this year. He gets paid either way.

If before the year we'd been told Bowles would only be our D-Coach one year I think I would have laid 99% odds that he had been fired...

with 1% odds that he died.

As long as BA is our HC, then I'm fine. I'm confident he could find a replacement if Bowles is gone.

I agree. His philosophy has been "next man up" on injuries. So who is the "next man up on" losing his DC? Remember that Arians is 61 and has been around the NFL for quite awhile meaning he has lots of contacts. Bottom line for me is with the talent that we have, I'm not worried.

Couple of things:
1. It's nice that other teams are interested in our coaches. And I hope he gets a HC job.
2. A year ago we were all hoping that Ray Horton wouldn't leave. Well he did and our defense improved.
3. If Todd leaves, I believe that BASK will come up with a suitable replacement. And if we keep the key players our defense will be great again, next year.

I'm not sure he would be a good fit at this point. Remember DD and a few others were not exactly happy with their roles in Horton's defense and were much happier under Bowles. I for one would rather BA/SK bring in someone else who would run a similar scheme rather than entertain bringing Horton back if Bowles would be offered a HC job.

I wasn't really suggesting he'd come back just that there are going to be other DC's out there if Bowles moves on. It's not Todd Bowles that made this defense good it was the talent on the defense. Bowles did a very good job, but there are lots of coaches who could have gotten this group to be good.

Couple this year with his HC performance at Miami and I'd guess he's gone! The Cards have a fine staff on that side of the ball and may well promote from within.

He'll be interviewed which will be good experience for NEXT offseason which is when he'll be gone IMO. This offseason several of the franchises {Detroit, MN, Cleveland} are looking for offensive gurus.

TB is locked in on Lovie Smith. Houston looks set to sign Bill O'Brien.

That leaves Washington and for Todd's sake I hope he doesn't land with that dysfunctional franchise.
