Hard to believe that it was 30 years ago that the NFL players went on strike and the NFL ran out replacement players for 3 weeks. I often wonder how the Cards would have faired if that doesn't happen. The Cards went 7-8(the odd number of games was due to week 3 being cancelled altogether) that year and missed the playoffs by 1 game. That was the renaissance year for Lomax where he got his mojo back. They started out 1-1 winning at home against Dallas and nearly coming back from a 28-0 deficit @ SD to lose 28-24. Week 3 vs a mediocre Indy team was cancelled then the replacement games started. The Scab Cards were pretty competitive losing by a TD against the eventual champion Redskins, then we beat the Saints, then lost a close one to a 49er team which was pretty much the regular 49er team. The Scab Cards lost by 6 to Montana, Rice, & company. Cards lost the first 2 post strike games then finished the 2nd half going 5-3 including an incredible comeback win vs Tampa where the Bucs took a 28-3 lead into the 4th quarter but the Cards came storming back to win 31-28 in front of a crowd of about 50 people including myself. This was the also final season in St. Louis and the fans knew it because to call Busch sparsely crowded was an understatement. I didn't realize it was the 30th anniversary of the scab games until ESPN advertised the 30 for 30 on it which I look forward to seeing. Here's a picture of Cards scab QB Shawn Halloran against the Deadskins that year(and as you can see from the pic, Earl Ferrell crossed the picket line along with JT Smith):
