What is ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller hearing about the Indianapolis Colts with the 2025 NFL draft on the horizon?

In the latest draft buzz article from ESPN, not surprisingly, Miller discussed Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland making sense for the Colts in the first round. However, far more noteworthy was what Miller had to say about Day 2.

"Don't be surprised if the Colts use Day 2 to bolster their secondary," Miller wrote.

The Colts already addressed the secondary heavily in free agency by signing Cam Bynum and Charvarius Ward, and very quickly, the cornerback and safety positions have been reshaped by GM Chris Ballard.

Now that isn't to say another addition at either position couldn't be made. At safety, beyond Bynum and Nick Cross, the only other players on the roster are Rodney Thomas, Daniel Scott, and Marcel Dabo.

At cornerback, meanwhile, whether it comes from Jaylon Jones, JuJu Brents, Samuel Womack, or anyone else, there is room for improved play opposite of Ward on the boundary.

But having said all of that, the Colts also have more pressing positional needs to address as well.

Tight remains a major hole on this roster. The Colts still need to find a starting linebacker to line up next to Zaire Franklin, not to mention that the offensive line is a question mark without Will Fries, and defensive line depth is a need as well.

After spending big in free agency on the secondary, I just don't know that the Colts can then justify spending an early-round pick here as well. On paper anyways, the overall roster still isn't good enough for Ballard to have the luxury to go that route.

Now, on Day 3? Sure. But on Day 2, I'm not sure this is the best allocation of already limited resources, given how free agency unfolded.
