Arizona State golfer Jose Luis Ballester did not have a memorable Masters debut on the course, but he did have one in Rae's Creek.
Rae's Creek is where Ballester chose to create his own restroom during the 2025 Masters on April 10, when he needed to relieve himself during his round at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. This went down while Justin Thomas, his playing partner, was on the 12th green.
According to ESPN, Ballester said he forgot that there are restrooms just left of the 13th hole teebox. One could say that the 21-year-old amateur made an amateur mistake.
"I'm like, I really need to pee," Ballester told reporters. "Didn't really know where to go, and since JT had an issue on the green, I'm like, 'I'm just going to sneak here in the river and probably people would not see me that much.'"
Ballester posted a 4-over 76 through Round 1.
Ballester went five over through the first five holes (including a triple-bogey seven on the fifth hole). He did not, however, regret his bathroom decision.
"It was not embarrassing at all for me," Ballester said. "If I had to do it again, I would do it again."
After all, people at the tournament did see Ballester and supported his decision.
"They clapped for me," Ballester said. "Probably one of the claps that I really got today real loud. So that was kind of funny."
