AUGUSTA, Ga. — When you got to go, you got to go. And amateur Jose Luis Ballester had to go at the most inopportune time:

After hitting his third shot on the par-5 13th hole during the first round of the Masters Tournament.

So Ballester walked to a tributary of Rae's Creek that runs along the left side of fairway and relieved himself into the water. With his back to the fans but in plain site.

After zipping up he received a loud ovation.

"They saw me. They saw me," and unapologetic Ballester said. "It was not embarrassing at all for me. If I had to do it again, I would do it again.

"Probably one of the [loudest] claps that I got today. Real loud, so that was kind of funny."

Ballester said he forgot about the rest room by the 13th tee.

"I'm like, I really need to pee," Ballester said. "Didn't really know where to go … I'm like, I'm just going to sneak here in the river and probably people would not see me that much, and then they clapped for me."

Ballester, a senior at Arizona State, bogeyed the hole on the way to a 4-over 76. He was playing in a group with Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas.
