If we actually adopted a 3-4 as our base defense, it would likely look more like:
ORLB - Berry (Okeafor)
IRLB - Beisel
ILLB - Hayes
OLLB - Dansby (Pace)
RDE - Clancy
NT - Watson
LDE - Dockett
I'm not sure why people would be confident with our LB corps in a 3-4 alignment when we don't have the linebackers to run a 4-3 defense. At the same time, we'd be obviating any depth we had in our front seven because Brandon Johnson, Jonathon Lewis, Chris Cooper, and Antonio Smith would all no longer have positions on this team.
It takes 3-4 years or 2 years with a couple first round picks (like the Cowboys had) to transition a defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4.
