1. WR Sterling Shepard, Oklahoma.

Shepard is the "Little Fitz" of slot WRs (tremendous route runner and outstanding velcro hands) only he gets quicker separation. Imagining him in the slot with teams having to pay attention to Smoke and Fire as deep threats and this kid and passing game could be unstoppable. Plus, he can return punts.

2. DT/DE Javon Hargrave, South Carolina St.

Has a combination of power, quickness and burst that allows him to disrupt numerous plays every game.

3. LB Jaylon Smith, Notre Dame.

Elite talent in every aspect of linebacker play---worth waiting for.

4. S Justin Simmons, Boston College.

Has the cover skills of a CB (he excelled at RCB as a junior before moving to FS as a senior), the downhill tackling ability of a SS and the range and ballhawking ability of a FS. His versatility would make him a stellar fit in Bettch's defense.

I'll take Jaylon Smith. I hope they don't draft a WR. I just want them to start the draft off with D players.

As I mentioned in the other thread, to me, Kendall Fuller is THE trade down candidate.

Others I like are Vonn Bell. I think he's the best overall Safety in the draft and was OSU's best defensive player.

Jonathon Bullard would be a great get and, even though I'm not a big fan, Connor Cook would be an option.

Shepard is a game changer. Look what Tyler Lockett did for Seattle. And Shepard is a better receiver than Lockett. Not as good as a punt returner, but few are. Plus, the only WRs signed beyond this year are Smoke and Fire.

What should be interesting is whether SK signs a CB before the draft, because at this point it is the only immediate need on the defense. If he does---that would allow him to go offense with the first pick.

Who is the child on this board that gives all of Mitch's posts a 1 star rating? Ridiculous. Great post Mitch. Good read in this slow time before the draft.

Chris Jones

Although I might just flat take him round 1 #29. This guy flashes better talent than maybe anyone in the draft. Flashes is the key, id like more consistency.

Fortunately, BR wrote an article on him today.

Dudes a stud, check this out. Highlights are insane

Good call on Jones. I think Todd McShay (ESPN) has the Cardinals taking Jones in his latest mock. With the way Bettch rotates the defensive lineman, Jones should be able to play at a high energy level. Here's another good article:

:yeahthat:

Actually, the Cardinals do need a punt returner, so I am thinking why not get a Hines Ward type of WR who can make our offense even more electrifying.

I don't think that John Brown nor J.J. Nelson will ever thrive in the slot. Shepard would be a perfect compliment and would attract safety help which could allow Smoke and Fire to get behind the defense more regularly.

Still I don't want them using their first pick on a WR or even a QB(unless that QB is a top prospect, then maybe). I want them to go after a defensive player, whatever position. I think the D is more of a need then the O.

I love all four of those players Mitch, so I'm going to add four more. OC Ryan Kelly, WR Tyler Boyd, OL Germain Ifedi, CB Kendall Fuller

I wouldn't tradedown for J SMITH just take the best player in the draft one of the best players in the past 5 years I've seen JMO. If medical checks out no worries we have a legit redshirt year always play for today but build for tommotow

I wish I could find more tape on Hargrave. He is so explosive. Two more tapes like the what I have watched and I would be happy with him at 29.

It is very juvenile and I don't get it. I simply vote on the thread myself and as you see most move to the 4 star range which should tell the serial one starrer he is in the minority.

Don't like what a poster has to say then don't go into threads started by them.

Mitch your dead on with these kids though personally I would touch Smoth til Rd 3 given how kids with similar injury have had difficulty fully recovering.

Shepard will be a beast in this league no doubt.

I apologize. I took it as you calling me a pupil of Mitchs. Misunderstanding on my part.
