By my calculations Phoenix currently has tied up $37.0098 in total salaries for next year. This number will change once we find out the ruling on Nagy's arbitration hearing.

With Nagy getting $3M, the Coyotes now have roughly $40.7M in cap space tied up to 22 players, which could be a little more or a little less depending on which players on two-way contracts make the team.

With Nolan's $1.25M, I have a 22 man roster at $41.44M. However, the payroll will most likely be lower, as the team will probably only carry 21 players.

The team has too many Centers on it. I'm sure they'll wait to see how training camp plays out, but I'll predict that Scatchard will be traded.

Centers:

Reinprecht
Ricci
Comrie
Roenick
Scatchard

Can you post the entire roster? www.phoenixcoyotes.com is still showing Devereaux, Kvasha, etc. and it's out of date.

D Ed Jovanovski
D Derek Morris
RW Shane Doan
LW Ladislav Nagy
C Mike Comrie
D Nick Boynton
C Dave Scatchard
G Curtis Joseph
C Steven Reinprecht
C Mike Ricci
C Jeremy Roenick
D Zbynek Michalek
RW Owen Nolan
RW Georges Laraque
LW Oleg Saprykin
D Keith Ballard
RW Bill Thomas
D Dennis Seidenberg
RW Fredrik Sjostrom
LW Tyson Nash
G David LeNeveu
LW Josh Gratton

Thats what I have as our current roster for salary cap implications. Other guys like Fischer, Morrison, Spiller, and MacLean will be given the chance to make the team, but the guys I have listed above is my best guess (and I think it is also our most expensive roster possible, for salary cap purposes).

That's a pretty good roster...too bad we are one bigtime scorer away from being a real cup contender.

Defense is actually pretty impressive with Joanovski, Morris, Boynton, Ballard, Michalek, and Seidenberg.

Comrie, Nagy, Doan, Reinprecht, and Roenick are pretty decent scorers.

From top to bottom it should be one of the best defensive units in the league, provided that Jovo stays reasonably healthy. Plus, there is a lot of depth with guys that could play in the NHL right now like Spiller and Jones in the minors.

They are decent scorers, but let's be honest, the only real pure scorer of the group is Nagy. We really could have used another topline forward, which was a major goal of the offseason. That didn't happen. Hopefully they have lightning in a bottle with a rejuvinated JR and Nolan, but they could just as easily be Brett Hull.

I will agree that this team isn't going to win by scoring lots of goals. It's going to be the D that wins games.
