Southern California men's basketball commit Alijah Arenas was reportedly hospitalized on Thursday following a serious car crash, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

Arenas, the son of former three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, was placed in an induced coma following the accident that occurred around 4:55 a.m. near Los Angeles, California. He is in stable condition, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officials responded to a call that a Tesla Cybertruck had crashed into a tree and a fire hydrant, with fire involved. A Los Angeles Fire Department public information officer told ESPN that the 18-year-old driver was out of the vehicle and was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

USC said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports that it could not comment since Arenas is a prospective student-athlete.

Arenas is the No. 10 overall prospect and the top-ranked shooting guard in the class of 2025 out of Chatsworth High School in Los Angeles, according to 247Sports. He committed to the Trojans in January over Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky and UCLA, among others.
