I mean Flacco, Big Ben, Matt Ryan was Coddled and developed, Our QB's started in pass fest hell and were burnt to pieces in their first start. I see alot of QB recommendations outside our roster that don't beat or equal Hoyer.

Coddled??? Really.............. all were starters as a rookie. None were coddled, more like thrown to the fire and took their lumps.

I'd have to check on Flacco, but Ben Roethlisberger and Matt Ryan were massively protected by run-first offenses that prevented them from having to pass early and often and kept them out of down-and-distance positions that would be difficult for a young QB to overcome.

I know that the Steelers and I think that the Falcons in Ryan's first two seasons not only had the highest run:pass ratios in the NFL, they might have been the only teams in the league that ran the ball more than they passed.

Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger, RGIII, Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, and Mark Sanchez were all coddled. Hell, Arians said he simplified the offense for Ben while he threw the whole playbook at Luck because Luck could handle it. You want QBS who were thrown in the fire? Look at Peyton Manning, Eli Manning and Andrew Luck. Those guys were all told sink or swim even if it was because they hinted at the ability to handle it.

huh

aint Vermont a drink Mixer or something-

A matt Leinart drink could be kind of a red bull with a layer of qualudes or something! 3 Ice cubes for 3 broken shoulders!

I think Hoyer Grades out a keeper out of our 4 current Cards QB's, and may compete for the starting position this preseason. Sticks and stones may break my bones - but I'm a stubborn MammaJamma.

Waoh, woah, woah. Easy, there fella.

He is the best qb on this roster.

Problem is, he is not on the roster. He's an UFA, and according to the scout that MJ consults, Hoyer is now being considered the #2 in this year's UFA QB pool---and the speculation is that the Browns and CEO Mike Lombardi are going to pursue him.

yea

He is a legit canidate - to compete for our QB job- Thats is I wanted a thread to discuss him- Since Scouts.com went downhill - I haven't got a good free site list of FA position rankings? I think Skelton will be considered by some teams- Kolb too but not at that price.

I know our old HC, OC and scheme were QB/Oline killers- but most can see past that to what our QB's could do with balance and support.

Eli wasn't even the starter his rookie year(to start), I think it was a guy named Warner. All of those mentioned, playbook simplified or not were successful as rookies, some even won Rookie of the year, all were mentioned for it. Are you honestly saying you think less of those QB's? Coddled implies you were mentored and brought along, not a starter your rookie year.

Disagree coddled means they were handled with kids gloves, not thrown into the fire. I think Chopper is saying some of these guys were brought along slowly because they could not handle to whole enchilada while others were given the whole playbook because they showed the mental capacity to take it all in. It has nothing to do with whether they played or not. Limited playbook for some a lot more for others.
