If anyone, anyone on this board ever again thinks Levi Brown is better than Peterson you need your head examined!!! Yeah, you Brown defenders keep saying he will get better and we needed Olineman, but he appears to be getting worse. He totally reminds me of LD, same number and same lazy skills. Rod Graves shoukl have learned his lesson because thats two times we have passed a franchise RB for a big, lazy Olineman in the top 5 picks.

I was just thinking of Shane after LB got called for a false start. Shane couldn't stand Leonard Davis' play and now here we have Levi Brown playing even worse. :)

Even the pick supporters don't claim Brown is better than Peterson. They claim that it fit a need, he will improve, and AP has some other concerns going into the draft. Even those who liked the pick would go back and pick AP if they could.

This is what pisses me off!!! Peterson had NO major injuries during his career in college. I guarantee you, make your draft picks based on need and I will make mine based on who I fill is the best player on the board and will beat you every time with my talent.

How about some of that angst towards our defense?

Dansby wants a new contract, Dockett wants a new contract, Wilson wants a new contract ?

What about that 40 burger we just got laid on us......and as I write this it could be a 50 burger.

Rugby, you're right. Me, you and alot of other Cards fans knew going into the season knew there were questions about this defense. I still think Clancy's vanilla defense has alot to do with our problems on that side of the ball.

Today's performance by Levi Brown doesn't get to me very much. He is a big & physical RT whose was brought in to help pound a running game. If you would have told me that we would have been throwing this much today, I would have predicted this type of performance. That is why you want to put players in positions to succeed. Unfortunately, we forgoed that option today.

Levi was terrible today. That's an understatement, in fact. And I supported that pick.

Dont buy that reason for one simple reason. We came out running the ball and it sucked. Because we couldnt run coming out of the gate we had to pass more often. Our run game has sucked all year so far. Under 3 yards a carry.

Brown problem is that he hasnt progressed. He is still playing like a rookie and he isnt playing even close to the mean streak he had in college. From the time he was drafted to his first game he lost his mean streak somewhere.

Joe, I would argue that the reason that he hasn't progressed and our team hasn't progressed is because of a lack of commitment by our organization. We haven't committed to being a running team and like everything in life, if you aren't committed to it, it won't work. Levi Brown won't get better if we don't run the ball and it will will take time even if we do. The biggest problem with our transition to being a running team is that all of our weapons are suited to throw the ball. Warner, Fitzgerald and Boldin all make it very easy to just hangup the running game when things get tough. I don't mind if we take some shots early to back the defense off, but in the end we have drafted the linemen we have to run the ball and we need to commit to doing so.

but you forget one thing . . . we spent the 5th overall pick on him. you select an olineman that high you expect walter jones, you expect jonathan ogden, you expect orlando pace. we have another leonard davis (actually, i think he's worse than big at this point) . . . oh wait, another top 5 olineman selection blown by graves. marvelous. you spend a top 5 pick you expect him to be "ready to play" already and have the potential to eventually dominate at the position. i think it's safe to say, this kid will likely never dominate the position, particularly in the pass game.

so you're advocating that we keep plowing into the line in 2.8 yards and a cloud of dust? great, we'll rack up 8.4 yards every three downs and punt all day. if it isn't working, it isn't working. that's not called undedicated, that's called seeing ineffective play and gameplanning away from it. has the "away from it" been successful? not in the past two weeks or in the past really (based on record), but the very definition of "idiot" is doing the same ineffective thing over and over again (like running for 2.8 yards a clip) and not learning from it.

I would agree that we drafted Levi Brown too high. I expect him to be more Orlando Brown than Johnathan Ogden. I have never expected him to be more than an average pass blocker and I still believe that if we as a team commit to the running game he will turn out to be a solid pro.

It is a bit unfair to judge player based on where he was drafted if he is put in situations that don't play to his strengths. Be pissed at the front office for drafting a run blocking RT in the top 5 of a draft rather than at that player giving up two sacks over 57 passing plays in a game that the team was never in.

I would agree that it is stupid to run the ball over and over again when all your strengths are in the passing game. Which is why I would question the scheme over the players playing in it. Why as an organization would you play to your weaknesses? But, I also know that we will never be a good running team if we don't commit to it. Just not possible.
