Lucky his shirt was tucked in and his socks weren't drooping or it would have been $25k!

What a joke.

I am so pissed that the NFL is saying "We are about the safety of our players"- Bulls$%t. This will really make players scared of the repercussion of a dirty chop block. Possibly ending someones career and get fined $8 (to us). Goddell needs to be fired. He is clueless!

Based on the schedule of fines/suspensions, that's all that the NFL could do.

The NFL will have a busy offseason revising its punishment protocols.

That amazes me. Guarantee "dirty" players are smiling right now, knowing that they can get away with this play and have a small slap on the wrist. Going to see a ton of these now on big time defenders. Such a joke

Sadly, this is why this stuff has to get settled on the field. We will see the donkeys again.

The league has set fine amounts for each violation.

8k is the set amount for a first time chop blocker.

Yes, this is a joke, and the league has its priorities all out of whack, but everybody knew from the get-go that this is what the fine would be. Not sure why there is a sudden outrage.

Maybe they'll let the defensive players have some input next time this is negotiated.

If this was CC going at Manning's knee's.. You know there would be a few more zeros in the figure.

That was no "chop block". Doesn't fit the description at all, Campbell was NOT engaged by the lineman and therefore it should, at the least, be an illegal hit on a defenseless player.

But, it is what it is. Karma can be a bitch Donkeys :)

There is a "lure" clause in the definition of a chop block penelty, so yes, it was a chop block, as confirmed by the NFL.

It will be taken care of....

In hockey, each team has an "enforcer" on the ice.
In baseball, you get knocked on your &*&*&* by something high & tight.

I'm sure the players in football have their own ways of getting even...
and while we may not see Denver anytime soon...things like this are NOT forgotten...not until the scales are balanced.

MARK IN SC :)

The "good news" in all of this is that C.C. should be back before not too long.
I believe that's called "dodging a bullet."

And CC is very professional about the incident in interviews. Basically stating it was not right and he is glad it was not a more serious injury. Huge fan of CC and so glad he is a Cardinal.

And here is what the Broncos Beat writer feels:

Mike Klis ‏@MikeKlis
Sorry Bruce Arians: Julius Thomas fined first-offense minimum $8,268. NFL hardly thought it was dirtiest play of past 37 years.

Let's suspend guys for an entire season for smoking a joint but just slap a little fine on a player that try's to end another players career. Yea that makes perfect sense.

I will say this: the Broncos should feel very fortunate that we don't play them again this season. Right or wrong, I could see the team retaliate and go after Thomas, or even Peyton, just to make a statement.

Good point SCCF. Deserving of a fact finding test run. Doesn't HAVE to be Manning but should be sooner than later while it's a hot topic.

Something tells me that if someone chopped JJ Watt like that and injured him the fine wouldn't be $8K. Also, as I said in another thread, after looking at the animated gif in that thread, this shouldn't qualify as a chop block because the OT never engaged CC. Looking at the play, Thomas dove at CC's knee plain and simple. CC's legs go out from under him and the OT barely puts his hands on him. This was an intent to injure. If I were Keim I'd petition the NFL for a redress here because this was a cheap shot and not a chop block.

Wow! This all just amazes me. Obviously it's bigger in our eyes than that of other teams fans bc it hurts our chances of winning.

It's what I expected. The Cardinals have no power, no pull, no ability to lean on the Commissioner's office to the point he'd do anything besides apply a slap on the wrist.

We need to win a few Super Bowls to get that. This is the stuff motivation is made of. And I think BA is just the guy to do that.

It's a "You don't matter" kick in the teeth we need to use to our advantage.
