After losing free agent Lil'Jordan Humphrey to the New York Giants on Friday, the Denver Broncos are now approaching the NFL draft with seven wide receivers on their roster.
The top options are returning WR1 Courtland Sutton, dynamic weapon Marvin Mims and two members from last year's draft class: Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin.
That's not a room full of All-Pros, but coach Sean Payton has hinted that he's higher on the WR depth chart than fans and pundits seem to be. Still, Denver figures to add more WRs.
In addition to potentially targeting receivers in the NFL draft, the Broncos could also look to bring in a proven veteran to add more experience to the room. Here's a quick list of eight free agent wide receivers Denver could consider. (Note that these WRs are available as of the time of this post being scheduled.)
1. Elijah Moore (25): The former second-round pick hasn't lived up to his draft status, but he topped 50 receptions and 500 receiving yards in both of his two seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Only Sutton hit both those numbers in Denver last season.
2. Tyler Boyd (30): Another former second-round pick, Boyd had an underwhelming season with the Tennessee Titans last fall, totaling 39 catches for 390 yards. One could argue that was more of a reflection of the QB play than Boyd's talent.
3. Amari Cooper (31): Cooper split time between the Browns and Buffalo Bills last season, hauling in 44 receptions for 547 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games. He's not the receiver he once was, but Cooper could still give a boost to the room.
4. Stefon Diggs (31): Diggs would probably already be signed if he wasn't coming off a torn ACL. He visited the New England Patriots this week but left without a deal.
5. Brandin Cooks (31): Cooks started his career under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints, but he's bounced between four teams since then. He totaled 26 catches for 259 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games with the Dallas Cowboys last season. Story update: Cooks has re-signed with the Saints.
6. Tyler Lockett (32): The Broncos might already have their version of (a young) Lockett in Mims, but he's worth mentioning. The veteran totaled 49 receptions for 600 yards and two touchdowns with the Seattle Seahawks in 2024.
7. Robert Woods (32): Woods had 53 catches for 527 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons with the Houston Texans, but his production dropped off last year.
8. Keenan Allen (33): Allen quietly totaled 70 receptions for 744 yards and seven touchdowns in a struggling Chicago Bears offense last season. He still has gas left in the tank.
Next month, the Broncos will also hold seven picks in the 2025 NFL draft (April 24-26).
