He hasn't exactly been impressive, though. Most have his shots were pretty much wide open, maybe with a guy near him extending his arms in the air, but not making the shot difficult for Amare. Also, good thing the Blazers don't have anybody that Amare would have to guard, because he hasn't even tried to do anything on defense.

He looked pretty good, aside from the 50% vertical. (Which is to be expected.)

What a terrible post. It's his first game back. Give it until the playoffs, then you can complain. (maybe.)

Let the record show that I did not make this post.

Agreed. A couple of those putbacks he would have dunked last year instead of going up so soft.

The good news is he definitely has a ton of confidence in his shot - and it looks incredible!

I told you, when I saw that first 2 on 2 video, that his shot looked beautiful. I'm sure they edited it so he made all the shots, but just the form and confidence with which he shoots, you can see how beautiful it is. His shot might already be close to being as good as the mailman's shot in his prime.

Woah woah! Keep in mind that many people on these boards can't watch the game, so they don't know what Amare's 9 points and 3 boards then meant. Old Amare obviously would have had 9 points and 1 board (because his 2 boards were off of misses that he would've dunked) on a poster (which would've been due out in about 2 or 3 weeks at allposters.com). I wasn't implying that Amare's performance was bad at all. Remember those "Chris Webber" analogies? I think Webber had a doughnut in his first game back from the micro. So there goes that discussion... but for the people who weren't able to watch, at least they now could understand that this was in fact not the exact same Amare that played in vs. San Antonio last spring.

Again, I didn't mean for it to be negative, and I rarely strive for my posts to be "terrible," but I was just saying what I saw, to give a bit of a different viewpoint.

I've come to the realization that this is what Amare is going to be like when he is 35. He's hitting the long jumper, (ala malone) still getting inside whenever he wants - but not going up as strong, etc.

Just an observation. Hell, with the beard he looks like a 15 year grizzled vet.

Pretty good observation I must say.

I think Amare will develop his jump shooting and finesse game much sooner than later because he doesnt want to rely on explosion to dominate. This is good since it makes him more dangerous, the transition to be the next Karl Malone is almost there.

Anyone notice Diaw didnt shoot the ball much?

He did lead the team in assists, and it seems that D'Antoni put in different players with Amare as much as possible to get them accustomed.

But how will this affect Diaw? Hopefully its just a one game thing.

And for some playoff line-up, maybe Diaw off the bench?

C: Thomas
PF: Stoudemire
SF: Marion
SG: Bell
PG: Nash

Bench:

PG/SG: Barbosa
SG/SF/PF/C: Diaw
SF/PF/C: Thomas
PG/SG: House

Still looks like the Spurs-beater line-up.

Diaw was very openly trying to get Amare involved. He really only shoots when he feels like it will help the team.

The best thing I can say about Amare's game tonight is that the team looked better when he was on the floor. Period.
