You know I like this idea alot. I feel it could prolong RJ's career by limiting the number of innings his pitches. Guys would have to face a 93 MPH fastball & a nasty slider in the 9th inning. It worked for John Smoltz.
That subject came up before, and it sounded like a great idea as RJ's career winds down.
I'm trying to remember if someone brought up a point about his effectiveness in the first inning. Did RJ usually start off strong, or did he reach his max after a few innings?
And, if he did need a few innings to be at his strike-out-the-side best, would that change if he were the closer?
Any thoughts?
