Best team ever in Arizona as far as I’m concerned, even with the U of A title team and D-Backs.

I will probably never love another team the way I did that one.

I agree. As good as the Nash teams were, the 92-93 Barkley squad would have killed them. They were deep and could play any style. Its a shame they ran into peak Jordan because they are one of the top teams to never win a title, IMO.

Hard to say. Did you listen to end where Russillo talks about the difference in eras?

The SSoL Suns were built with Colangelo knowing the upcoming rule changes about to take effect. Knowing that the NBA was moving in a freedom of movement direction he built a squad that could really get out and run.

If their series was played in the 90s I would take the Barkley Suns all day, but if it was played in the mid 2000s or beyond I would lean more towards the SSoL Suns.

Though to be fair the games have a tendency to slow down in the playoffs and that would have favored the Barkley team anyways.

Barkley vs Stat
KJ vs Nash
Majerle vs JJ
Dumas vs.Marion
Ainge vs Q

The matchup would be great. No one could guard Barkley but I think Chuck could somewhat contain Amare. He guarded guys like David Robinson and Kemp that year in the playoffs. He wouldn't habe shutdown Amare but kept him from taking over. That's where the 93 team gets the edge.

The Nash Suns were pretty effective in the half court. Imagine the Jazz version of Stockton/Malone surrounded by sharp shooters and explosive athletes. The more current team always has the advantage in these different-era matchups because they’ve seen every version of the past. It’s an unfair hypothetical.

Problem is that the game was more physical in the 90s and that hurts guys like Nash because he wouldn't be able to get anywhere he wants as easily as he did when he played with us. They also instated a 5 second back to the basket rule that would have effected Barkley.

That's why I stated that it would very much depend on the set of rules being used. If it is played with hand checking and and no 5 second rule that very much favors the Barkley team. Modern rules favor the Nash team.

On offense, KJ would have made what Parker routinely did to Nash look like child’s play in comparison.

People are forgetting D’Antoni and his short rotations and flat out refusal to make adjustments.

if the Suns ever win a championship I might just cry

Chuck isn’t limiting pre-micro Amare who was taking it to prime KG/Duncan. Plus you wouldn’t want him in foul trouble. Chuck would go off as well probably averaging 30/20 something like that lol.

Contrary to popular belief Nash schooled Parker in 05/07’. Parker got his volume points on sub-50 ts% both series. Nash was more efficient all while doubling Tony’s assists. Of course Manu was the one that slaughtered them in 05’ with his slashing/playmaking. We had no answer for that.

Imagine keeping Joe and still signing Raja that next year.

Yeah, this was the part I found the most interesting. I also went and rewatched the same game they were talking about and he's largely right, the defense was pretty lackluster, on both sides.

Also, watching Miller at his skinniest and most effective was a joy. I forgot how good he was back then.

Dumas and Miller playing big against the Lakers. Ceballos, KJ, Chambers, Charles, even Ainge... What a great time to be alive. Nash and Amaré team was pretty great as well off course. F'ing Spurs.
