So, was heading home after work. About to get on the 51 heading north via Indian School. Got to the end of the ramp and about to punch it to enter the traffic flow when 3 Sheriff cars came zooming up with lights blaring and stopped us all from going any further. I was like WTF??? And then 5 huge luxury coaches came cruising up, escorted by more Sheriff cars. They got off on Highland which I assume means they are staying at The Ritz on Camelback.
Is it customary for teams to travel like that? With escorts?? Seems way over the top to me!!

I wouldn't call special treatment, I'd call it the whiner protection program, because they are in danger here. :iwin:

Don't worry. Cops will be chasing them soon enough with all the criminals on that team.

Don't know if it's normal but seems easier on traffic in the long run. Just let 'em go instead of trying to maneuver in rush hour and clogging up all the lanes. Couple weeks ago I got on Thomas and I17 heading north after work and two tour buses made a mess of traffic for miles just trying to get in the HOV lane.

Greg Easterbrook goes off on this quite often in his Tuesday morning quarterback (TMQ) colunm about people from a President on down to the lowest public official use taxpayer funds so they can run traffic lights, speed and make themselves feel important.....all paid for by working stiffs like you and me. Like mounties escorting college coaches to locker rooms, senators with a phalanx of security on trips, etc. He gets pretty incensed over it at times.

I'm pretty sure teams pay for the entourage. Off duty officers can be paid as security.

Of course.

FTFY and in reference to fire alarms.
:biglaugh:

Since we know where everybody kicks it, and how they roll, maybe we can use it to our imaginary advantage, while keeping it fun and publicly acceptable. I will ponder this thought.

The Saturday 2am fire alarm in their hotel idea is a violation of several city and building--not to mention fire--codes and would go against everything within our legal means necessary to win Sunday's game.

Not to mention the good natured fair play standard I think we all hold ourselves accountable for. I find it rather heinous and despicable on various fronts.

Therefore I wholeheartedly, and with fierce determination and belief, agree with said proposal, obviously.

It's the 49ers. Whatever it takes!

I saw the same/similar travel for the Cardinals when they played the Giants, last week. They left their Comfort Inn motel in not five but ten buses, and you had no trouble noticing them as they were all painted yellow.

Yes. It's common. I was talking about this on another thread not long ago that the Raiders' motorcade was traveling from the Hilton at Fiesta Mall and their bus traveled by motorcade.

It's actually not unusual for teams to use 3-4 motorcades. My understanding is that there are buses that leave every hour or so until 2 or 3 hours before kickoff.

All because football fans can be idiots. Sad truth.
