You could say the same thing about Dan Fouts, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly and others.... Takes the perfect storm to be a "winner" in the NFL few QB's do it on their own. Then you have QB's like Dilfer who blow and have a SB ring.

Will be interesting to see where he is stats wise and win/loss wise in about 10 years.

IMO, he's not going to be at that level. I'd still call those guys "winners". They all had lots of playoff appearances, and playoff wins, and no one doubts that the Chargers, Dolphins and Bills would've been far less without them.

What has Cutler done? He has yet to get a team into the playoffs or win a playoff game. Let him prove he can lead a team into at least that level of success and I might start to change my mind about him. I admit, I thought he was one of the most overhyped players of all time when he was in the draft, so I've never really liked him.

The 3 QB's you mentioned couldn't be more different than Cutler. Cutler has one thing & only one thing in common with these guys - a strong arm. After that, all similarities end. Both in & out of the huddle, did you see the look in the eyes of his teammates last night? They almost dread his presence. He's a whiny loner. Marino, Fouts & Kelly commanded respect in and out of the huddle & they got it. Their teammates looked at them with wide eyes & soaked in everything they said. The Bear players can't stand Cutler. No one has to admit it, but it's real obvious. He is not a leader & he is not a likeable guy.

I agree with this... I was one who actually thought Cutler would transition very well to the NFL. But he clearly does not have the intangibles needed to produce the W's. Marino, Fouts and Kelly were natural, born leaders who were able to rally their teams to great success and tremendous individual performances. Cutler is still very early in his career of course, but from what we've seen thus far, it just doesn't seem he has what the others had in order to hit those lofty levels of performance. What a waste of incredible talent...

Haven't seen much of Cutler except last night since I don't get Cards games here in California and didn't get to watch that game, but to me last night he looked disinterested and like he wasn't a part of the Bears at all. If I had to guess without knowing I would say last night was his first game on the team, and that his teammates didn't want him and he didn't want them. It's like he got traded to a team he didn't want any part of and it shows.....

At this point, I view everything Cutler "doesn't have" as things that he's "not showing." On the field, there is no difference between not showing and not having. But there are enough stories about immensely talented athletes who ultimately grow up and put it all together to make me hesitant to write him off.

I agree, he's not in a great place right now to do it under Lovie, with no receivers, and as a "savior." But Lovie might be fired. Maybe Shanahan takes over. Maybe Jim Fassel comes nack from the UFL and tutors him. Maybe Norv Turner gets fired and comes in as OC. Circumstances could change and make him into a very different player.

Personally I think Cutler acts like about 1/2 a man, but his QB talent is there to harness if the right QB coach can get through that SillyPutty head of his.
