after that segment, charles, ej, kenny, and magic talked about the suns. charles likened them to the mavs of a couple years ago, and said that it doesn't seem like that style has staying power in the playoffs because the suns are a jumpshooting team.

This is just another example of Charles Barkley not really understanding what he's talking about. I understand if he believes that this team will flop in the playoffs because of their up-tempo style, defensive rebounding, or just their defense in general. It's hard to take someone seriously though when they say that Phoenix does not have an inside game. Shaquille O'Neal might be the only player in the NBA better around the basket than Amare Stoudemire right now.

Never like Charles. He kept trashing Mavs no matter how well Mavs did. Mavs ran to the WCF that year with 60W and he still thinks Mavs sucks. Basically, he hates Dirk because he thinks the whole team is soft.

Well, I have a news for him. Not EVERY basketball has to be played so damn HARD AND PHYSICAL. Basketball is not football.

And Suns is not a pure jumpshooting at all. Just because Suns is good at shooting doesn't mean they are a 100% jumpshooting team. What about Amare? What about him in the picture?

I sense jealousy from Charles because Suns broke the record which he didn't. Amare was one of the key components and all he said is "Suns is a jump shooting team". WTF?

Charles Barkley is a conventional thinker all the way (and therefore anti-Don Nelson), but IIRC he's always liked Dirk.

I remember a story about how the Dream Team played Dirk's team in a friendly before the Olympics, and afterward Barkley offered to pay Dirk's way to Auburn (Chuck's alma mater).

He didn't--Dirk turned him down and went right from Germany to the pros.

If Dirk had accepted, it probably would have violated a bunch of NCAA rules, but I'm sure that the NCAA frowns on a player eating pizzas that fans send to his team's bench, too.
