After watching the two Harbaughs back to back, I saw a lot more than the typical faimly resemblace. These guys have been taught early about balance, time of possesion, and the importance of running the ball. Both teams went down early, and still continued to work on the run game, without panicking at the scoarboard or game clock. It's like both of these brothers realize until their offense is indeed two dimensional, they are stuck on stupid. Other teams get behind and start looking for those big chunks, resulting in no time of possesion and relying on their defenses way too much. Like us.



Another thing is the QB play they get out of their guys. Alex Smith was on his way to clipboard city, word on him was bustola. Then the whiners go to the AFC Championship game with Alex believing in himself, calling himself elite!! The other Harbaugh has Flacco, wasn't ever really considered top 5, and now he's headed to the show and hasn't thrown a pick yet in this year's road playoff games. Back to the whinebaugh, he benches Alex, and goes Krapmode on the whole NFL.



And their defenses, don't get me started on their defenses...that's a double whammy!!! Well I better chill for now, was just trying to note some similarities but now I'm starting to get worked up.

Jim inherited the defense, but the offense is all him. he just knows what he wants. you heard Aikman say it during the game, they went with Kaepernick for 2 reasons, better runner, and "willing" to take shots downfield. Jim is a big believer in run the ball to bring the safeties up and then go over the top, the problem is Smith was not always willing to take those shots he'd check down. That's why they made the change, Colin will make more mistakes but he'll make more big plays too.

As harbaugh said his rookie year "he's really got a hose for an arm." NFL defenses will adjust but I was impressed. Note, the entire game Atlanta played to make him hand the ball off and he did it over and over, he didn't try and trick them he just made the read and handed the ball off. Just like Jim had the patience to keep running when behind, the QB had the patience to keep handing the ball off and not try and make a big play himself when they were playing him to run.

Just like Jim had the patience to keep running when behind, the QB had the patience to keep handing the ball off and not try and make a big play himself when they were playing him to run.

I saw that. Kaepernick showed amazing discipline and restraint. Executed the offense well. That also shows good coaching. Kaep and Harbaugh are certainly in synch with each other.

But to comment on the post, those two teams can continue to pound the ball with confidence in those situations because they have Ray Rice and Frank Gore. Those guys are pretty good and way better than Beanie or RWilliams (I think - my opinion). Plus, they have two of the best O-lines in the game, SF probably has the top Line in the NFL.

The cards have 5 large speed bumps with shoulder pads.

Gore and Rice are both good, their O-lines are good, these coaches got paired up with some stacked talent. But most teams in the NFL will abandon the run if it isn't working and they are down on the scoreboard. These guys just stay committed to their gameplan, keep running it reguardless, and sooner or later it starts paying off. Then the pass game opens. And their defenses are resting the whole time. Ravens and Whiners pretty much rule on time of possesion, no wonder their defenses are poppin fresh.
