Emotions inevitability run high during March Madness, but there's never a place for fans to throw anything on the court.

Yet, that line was crossed during Thursday's first-round matchup between Creighton and Louisville at the men's NCAA tournament in Lexington.

With Louisville down 12 with just under five minutes to go, Cardinals coach Pat Kelsey was called for a technical after he ventured on the court to argue with officials. As Kelsey's staff was trying to stop Kelsey from picking up another technical, someone threw a full water bottle from the stands in the direction of the Creighton bench.

This was how the scene unfolded:

It was unclear if the Rupp Arena staff was able to identify who threw the bottle, but there's seriously no place for that in sports. Play was briefly paused as the crew worked to clean up the court.

The ugly scene didn't get any better for Louisville as Creighton held on to win, 89-75.
