Schools in Lenawee County are back in session after spring break, which means the spring sportsseason is now in full swing.

Here are the highlights of opening week and vote for your Lenawee County Athlete of the Week:

BASEBALL

Tecumseh topped Temperance Bedford in a season-opening doubleheader, 8-7 and 3-1.

Rocco Williams had four hits with six RBIs while Austin Kane got the Game 1 win in relief before Logan Ware gave up a run, on two hits and five walks while striking out four in the Game 2 win, which was called after five innings due to darkness.

Madison swept a doubleheader with Manchester, 10-0 and 3-2. Cole Grof got the win in Game 1, going 2.2 innings and giving up three hits and a walk while striking out six and had two hits with an RBI while Cam Barber had two hits with two RBIs.

Bryson Ballantyne got the win, giving up two runs, on two hits and two walks while striking out five before Norman Frederick got the save with a shutout third inning as the game was ended due to weather.

Addison started the season sweeping Camden Frontier, 4-1 and 7-6.

Josh Ray had four RBIs on the day with a double while Jacob Wright went 4.1 innings, giving up a run, on no hits and a walk while striking out six to get the win in Game 1 and had two hits in Game 2 while Logan Jewell got the win, going three innings and giving up two runs, on one hit and one walk while striking out five.

Hudson got a mercy win against Fayette (Ohio) to start the season, 16-1. Beckett McCaskey had two triples with three RBIs while Parker Seeger had two hits with a triple and three RBIs, Carter Vanlerberg hit a triple and two RBIs and Wyatt Gallippo hit a double with two RBIs. Liam Timm gave up one run, on one hit and one walk while striking out eight.

Onsted swept Napoleon to start the season on a strong note, 8-1 and 5-0. Xavier Gibbs went 5.2 innings and gave up one unearned run, on one hit and one walk while striking out 15.

Talan Hutchinson had two hits and two runs while Luke Manders hit a double with two RBIs. Gibbs hit a triple in Game 2 while Manders drove in a run. Hutchison, Lucas Arnold and Bryson Sutherland combined for four shutout innings on the mound and gave up two hits (both by Arnold) and no walks while striking out two. Sutherland got the win.

Onsted dropped a single game at Grass Lake, 11-5. Arnold hit a double with two RBIs while Manders hit a double as well.

Clinton split a pair to open the season against Columbia Central, winning 3-2 on a walk-off before falling, 5-2.

Quinn Walden hit the walk-off double to go with another hit while Decari Garrison hit a double. Walden tossed 3.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned), on three hits and three walks while striking out four. Jalen Stelzer got the win, going 3.2 hitless innings, allowing one walk and striking out eight. Andy Fair went three innings and gave up no runs, on two hits and a walk while striking out three and hit a double in Game 2.

Blissfield also split with Columbia Central as the Royals won, 8-4, after falling 8-0.

Blake Wood had a big Game 2, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double and four RBIs. Blissfield hit six doubles in the game with Preston Iffland getting two hits on the day. Corey Niles got the win, going five shutout innings and allowing one hit and three walks while striking out three.

Lenawee Christian dropped an 11-10 game at Concord in an extra-innings walk-off hit by pitch. Zane Cherfan had three hits with four RBIs while Gabe Miller had two hits with a double.

GIRLS SOCCER

The Lenawee Christian girls team started the season with a statement, beating Manchester, 5-0, before shutting out Blissfield as well, 8-0. Callie Anderson had five goals and two assists while Gigi Masters had three and Brynn Davis and Ila Stewart had two and an assist. Tory Swiggum had a goal and two assists and Lylah Hassenger and Ava Feick each had an assist.

Clinton's Aubrey Lauer chase for history got started with four goals in a 4-2 win against Jackson Northwest. Ashlyn Lehman had two assists while Mia Calucci had one and Jacklyn Whiting made 12 saves.

Tecumseh took its' first loss of the season when it fell to Columbia Central on Thursday, 3-1, with Kylie Trevino scoring the team's lone goal. Tecumseh bounced back to beat Quincy (3-2) and Coldwater (5-3) in its' home invite with Trevino adding six goals to her week while Brook Stark had two with two assists.

Adrian dropped its' opener against Monroe, 5-2. Tatum Borton scored both goals for the Maples to make 2-2 in the second half, but the Trojans responded with three goals.

Onsted fell to Monroe Jefferson, 1-0, while Blissfield lost to Quincy, 6-0, to start the season.

SOFTBALL

Madison won a pair of games against Manchester, 11-9 and 9-5 with Game 2 called after three innings due to weather.

Camylie Sower led the way with a home run, double and three RBIs in Game 1 while also getting the win, allowing no earned runs, five hits, one walk and 11 strikeouts. Olivia Schmitz got the Game 2 win, giving up three hits and three walks while striking out five and not allowing an earned run.

Tecumseh topped Erie Mason, 8-2, to start the season with Jessie Wilkinson going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs while Emma Eldred had two hits and an RBI. London Landini had two hits with a double and Mae Mattson had two hits with an RBI.

Ella Sattler got the win, going three innings and giving up two unearned runs, on one hit and two walks while striking out three. Kennedi Fulton tossed three shutout innings with one hit and no walks while striking out three.

Hudson won 15-0 against Fayette with Teagan Arredondo tossing a four-inning no-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts. She also hit a double with two RBIs while Brooke Clark had a triple with three RBIs and Malia Grayer hit a double with an RBI.

Addison split with Concord, winning 13-0 in Game 1 before falling 10-9 in Game 2. Madison McNett and Kylie Morris each had two RBIs with a double in the win while Olivia Speelman tossed five shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks while striking out four. Nevaeh Edison hit a triple with three RBIs in the loss.

Blissfield beat Evergreen, 11-6, to start the season before falling to Columbia Central in a doubleheader sweep, 7-0 and 12-2. Brooklyn Fetzer had a pair of doubles and three RBIs.

Sand Creek started the season 0-2 with losses to Ida, 14-4 and 9-4. Maddie Osburn had a big day at the plate still, driving in seven of the Aggies' eight runs with two home runs and five hits total. Sydney Marks had three hits, including a double.

Onsted dropped a pair of games to Napoleon, 6-0 and a 16-14 slugfest. Hannah Hill went 4-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs in the second game while Kaydence Fox, Sydney Keefe, Sophia Priest, Emma Belanger and Alyssa Sims all had multi-hit games.

LACROSSE

Tecumseh boys lacrosse had a busy week to open the season, starting with a 9-6 win at Brighton on Tuesday before falling to rival Temperance Bedford, 8-7, on Thursday and against Walled Lake Northern, 9-5, on Friday.

Luke Dunham had five goals in the win while Cooper Barkway had two. Wyatt Salenbien and Gavin Jones each had two assists and Soren Berthelson made 10 saves.

The girls team fell to 1-1 after a tight, 5-4, loss to Salem. Emily Burgess had three goals while Jazzy Reau had one.

TRACK AND FIELD

The Blissfield boys and girls team opened the season with wins against Whiteford with the Royals' girls winning, 78-56, and the boys winning, 74-61.

Hope Miller won the 800-meter (2:45.13) and 1,600 (5:30.43) for the girls while Hailey Sills won the 3,200 (13:42.00), De'Mya Gibbons won the high hurdles (18.73) and Revan Ricker won the intermediate hurdles (55.96). Durant Smith won the 100 (12.08) and 200 (24.71) for the boys while Jackson Vandenbusche won the 800 (2:05.87), Michael Weidmayer won the 1,600 (5:02.14), Noah Sills won the 3,200 (11:13.00), Skyler Kimple won the high hurdles (18.29) and Braedyn Tennant won the intermediate hurdles (46.18).

Natalie Benitez, Miller, Sills and Kaleea Braun won the girls 4x800 (12:11.30) while Brady Bills, Noah Sills, Beckett Klump and Weidmayer won the boys 4x800 (9:22.56). Tennant won the girls shot put (35-feet-8.75-inches) and high jump (4-8) while Anna Hallett won the pole vault (6-0). Kimple won the boys high jump (5-6) and Bills won the long jump (18-9).

The Blissfield girls then won the Clinton Invite, which was held at Dundee. Miller won the 800 (2:32.51) and 1,600 (5:24.66) and was joined by Braun, Hallett and Sills to win the 4x800 (10:46.43) while Grace Strahan, Reanne Smith, Leigh Wyman and Reilan Sayler won the 4x100 (56.48). Tennant won the shot put (33-0).

Hudson's Naika Rath won the 100 (12.78) and 200 (26.90) while Annabelle Czeiszperger won the pole vault (8-0). Clinton's Ella Claus won the 400 (1:03.54) and was joined by Katelyn Baker, Bella Bannon and Kylee Jordan won the 4x400 (4:46.92) while Bannon also won the high jump (4-10). Morenci's Zoey Martinez won the discus (95-2).

On the boys side, Clinton's Brenden Benschoter won the 100 (11.69), 200 (24.22) and long jump (19-10), Cole Hillegonds won the 400 (54.18), Gabe Manchester won the 3,200 (10:40.29) and Mason Brodie won the discus (169-2). Blissfield's Vandenbusche won the 800 (2:08.65) and was joined by Tennant, Evan Vore and Caleb Vore to win the 4x400 (3:47.75) while Sean Samuels, Sills, Weidmayer and Ian Waddell won the 4x800 (9:12.81). Hudson's Grayson Bills won the intermediate hurdles (44.70) and was joined by Jacob Pickford, Lucian Hepker and Beckett Campbell to win the 4x100 (47.38) while Colton Natale won the shot put (44-0).

Britton Deerfield's Jameson Watson, Kaiden Lidster, John Johnson and Cayden Allshouse won the 4x200 (1:41.77).

At Hillsdale's Jack Beilfuss Invite, Onsted's Aidan Paquin won the 100 (11.17), Griffin Amthor won the 200 (23.39), Mitchell Hiatt won the 3,200 (10:09.33) and Mason Chesser won the high jump (6-4). On the girls side, Onsted's Emmry Ross won the 800 (2:06.09) and 1,600 (4:57.80) while Hadley Ross won the 100 (13.71). Tecumseh's Kazariyah Garland, Holly Woods, Haidyn Schlorf and Lillian Harden won the 4x100 (54.44)

GIRLS TENNIS

Adrian started the season with a win as the Maples beat Columbia Central, 5-3.

Angelina Jovicic won at No. 1 singles while Ryan Kominek won at No. 3 singles. Emma Pino and Kirsten Hess won at No. 2 doubles, Aubree Gallant and Lauren Fisher won at No. 3 doubles and Marisela Ferman and Rakell Vazquez won at No. 4 doubles.
