Tomlinson sat out this weekend. Should be strong for a couple drives. Will David Boston be available? I am looking forward to this matchup. This will be a big test to our defense. And a chance to see our offense gelling a little more.:D :D What do y'all think of the upcoming game vs. the Chargers? Any Predictions?

This will be a far better test then the game against the cowboys.

Brees is a far better QB than what we faced this week. Hopefully BIG and Spikes will be in the lineup for the Chargers game. It would also be nice to see if the D-line play continues to impress.

And let us not forget to watch and see how Kwamme Lassiter does against us after he bad mouth this team so much before leaving. Boston will probably still be hurt.

after listening to joe bugle on KDUS on friday..my opinion of the chargers plunged..I think he coached in san diego a few seasons ago before he retired - and he lives in san diego and is obviously well connected around the league with coaches. He picked the chargers as a distant 4th in the NFC west - a division he is very familiar with (raiders 1, chiefs 2, broncos 3, chargers 4)..Tough division - but he stated the following:

1. they lost harrison and seau on defense..new leader of defense is wiley - who according to bugel is kind of clubhouse cancer and has some issues..
2. The chargers have more guys out of practice now due to injuries than any other team in the NFL - and he feels like some of the guys just do not want to hit it too hard during practice.
3. basically a new defensive backfield of 1st and 2nd year guys..
4. Offense - oline has question marks. Great running back, decent qb and one great receiver in boston (if he plays). problem is boston will be double and tripled team according to bugel as they have not other decent receivers..

Heard this a few days ago and forgot some of conversation..but bugel implied marty is having hard time controlling this team due to a lot of big ego guys who are hurt all the time and do not practice much..

I thought the chargers would be improved..but bugel kind of changed my mind..

San Diego game

Call me optimistic, but I think we are going to ROLL over San Diego. They looked pretty weak on TV.

Did you watch the game? How did Seattle look? After next week we will have a common opponent to compare ourselves to a division foe.

What happened at the Charger game.

Offense: Our top FIVE WRs were not playing, nor our starting TE, starting RB, starting FB, and Brees opened the game with our second string offensive line. When the first string line got in, minus Fonoti our big road grader, they actually looked good. However, the bottom of the barrel receivers we had out there kept dropping evrything, especially passes on third down that were first down catches.

Defense: The first string defense, minus Sammy Davis who will win the CB opposite Jammer, and Drayton Florence who will win the Knickle spot, played and were tore up with the underneath pass routes! Either the LB or Safeties weren't adjusting to the late guys coming into the pattern! Lots of yards after the catch. The only thing the first unit did well was jam the run. Stephen Alexander was stymied. However, the second unit let Seattle run all day. When Florence and Davis came in, with Hannick Milligan at safety, Seattle's passing succes ended. However, like I said, the second line and LB's let Seattle run all day. Florence and Davis actually had to make a lot of open field tackles.

In summary, our first string offense is still a mystery since they didn't play and we have new major parts on the offense. The fisrt string defense is good on the run and long pass, but looked extremly weak on the West Coast offense underneath passes. Our special teams looked good with the exception of one fumbled punt. Our second string looks weak and that's where the Cardinals will probably make hay!! :D

Thanks Yuma!
Doesn't sound like we will get a good comparison then. Especially if your first team O is playing next week.

i agree with the assesement of the Charger/Seattle game. However, I think our REAL challenge will be the Bears. I also predict our O to dominate the chargers and our D to make 2 TD's. Go get 'um Cards

Confucious Say...

Do not base your prediction for preseason Game #2 on what each team did in Game #1.

1. #8 Boot Up Rear syndrome - Team sucks, coach applies the boot. Team responds or rebels depending on its psyche.

2. Different Priorities - In game #1, you want to give your first unit roughly a quarter's worth of snaps. Then you want to yank them and look at your extensive roster. By game #2, some of your roster decisions have already been resolved in your mind. So you play the first string for an entire half (maybe more if they suck in the first half) and then look at guys you need to look at during the balance of the game.

3. Straightening Out Problems - If you've isolated on film a few glaring things that are screwing up your offense or defense, some teams are adept at fixing what's broke so that the team looks completely different in Game #2.

4. Return of the Living Dead - Guys that didn't suit up for Game #1 (due to hammies, groins and hangnails) may be ready to roll in Game #2 (or motivated to make an appearance in order to save their jobs - wink-wink, noodge, noodge - a certain CB).

Cards have to like a lot of what they saw vs. Dallas. Me? I'd like to see our running attack mow down the defense with the precision of a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. And I'd like Blake to go on something like an 11 for 11 2 TD tear. Other than that, I just hope our guys stay healthy and do to SD what they did to Dallas.
