Take that in a heart beat. I think if Ealy is there at 20 he's the pick but if the draft played out like that

1 Ealy
2 Bucannon
3 Hyde

I'd love that to

I really like Pryor, Donald and Ealy. I think all three would add much in their own way to an already good D down the road. I really think that the 1st Rd will produce a defensive player and the rest of the draft will be heavy offense. Maybe the following two to three picks. We need FA to gauge it more.

1-D-S,DL,OLB
2-OL,DL,TE
3-OL,TE,DL,WR
4-WR,QB,TE
5-6 ?

As much as BASK keep talking about beefing up the trenches I simply don't see then not taking D or O line in the first 3 picks.

They've also said they want to get longer and more athletic. There going after a LT with everything they have this off season. If you land that you got two guards you drafted last year. I don't see an offensive line pick.

Here is one I think Mitch will like how about the rest of you?

Thanks Reddog. Love the football card array---the guy did a great job.

Of course, being able to take Kyle Van Noy at #52 makes this mock impressive.

What I question about Ha Ha is whether he can slide down to SS---I think he can, but I think he's more naturally suited to play FS and we need a true SS. We already have Honey Badger and Rashad Johnson at FS.

This is why I prefer Calvin Pryor or Jimmy Ward.

In this mock, Pryor is off the board but he has Ward going about 6 picks later.

I think, however, it would be best to add a veteran UFA safety to what is a young secondary---and Chris Clemons, imho, would be a great fit. He's got the length and complete package the Cardinals need.

If we do sign a UFA SS---then look at the next few picks in this mock:

Kony Ealy
Odell Beckham, Jr.
Dee Ford
Brandin Cooks
Timmy Jernigan

He has Ryan Shazier going early in the 2nd round---which might happen although I would bet he is going to go in the first round.

In the 3rd round---I don't see the Cardinals taking a RB, unless it's a combo RB/WR in the Juke Ellington mode. BA has pretty much told us that if he is going to make Ellington the focus of the offense then he will need a player or two behind him who fits the focus.

It would seem to me that De'Anthony Thomas would be a great fit. I could even see BA&SK give up a 2nd round pick to sign Joique Bell. I believe the Lions are planning to tender him as a 2nd round RFA.

Other draftees in the mold would include Robert Herron, Lache Seastrunk, Josh Huff, Jalen Saunders, Dri Archer, John Brown, Tevin Reese and Bishop Sankey.

Possible UFAs: Donald Brown, Dexter McCluster.

McCluster rushed for over 500 yards (4.5 ypc) a couple of years ago when Jamaal Charles was sidelined. And he's steadily improve his receiving yards each year...he had well over 500 yards receiving this past year.

Love reading the various draft takes, but until we know how FA is going, there is no reason to get too excited. Only thing that makes sense to me is that this draft class is a deep one, so trading back would be a good thing.

Chris Clemons and one of the big three FA LTs would really open up our draft board and Dansby at a reasonable price would give us great momentum going into the draft and the season. Mendenhall showed us how much of a premium BA places on past relationships with a RB especially in terms of blocking. We don't know what he thought of Donald Brown but that could be his guy if he valued him in Indy.

Under that scenario I would be excited to see what they can pull off with a pass rusher,TE, DT, CB and speed WR. As much as BA loves the versatility of Ellington, these hybrid backs don't have the straight line speed to take the top off the D so that special WR is still a big need. Under this mock the option would be Brandin Cooks/Beckham if we would invest that high of a pick in a WR - or Ealy/Ford as our pass rusher, Hageman/Jernigan as DT of the future, Verrett/ Roberson to complement Peterson at CB and I don't see any TE worth a R1 pick in that mock but if we grabbed a pass rusher we could nab Jace Amaro at #52. I still like Van Noy but as slow as he is I don't think he is our solution. I really like the R3 options still available from pick #87 to #94.

Van Noy is not "slow," at all, Reddog. Running at the Combine is so much different from the kind of running a player does in a football game---basically because at the Combine there isn't the adrenaline factor.

Van Noy is a good-sized, high adrenaline player who has the athleticism to wreak havoc on the edge and to blanket TEs and RBs. Because of these abilities, he would be an absolute steal at #52.

The other thing is---some of the speed guys in this draft can take the top off of a defense in pass coverage and threaten the defense in the running game when given 10-12 touches a game (run and pass).

Notice how BA tried to use Patrick Peterson---both as a runner and a receiver. Same thing with these speed guys in the draft, except they would line up at RB and be used as rushers, whereas with Peterson he was limited to just reverses and wildcat type plays.

I totally get the speed thing and how 40 times don't always translate and the 10 yrd splits and cone drills are maybe more critical for a pass rusher who can also cover but my vision for our D would be a complement to DWash who ran 4.48 - 4.68 and clearly has the quick burst. A 4.71 best 40, 32" vert and 112 broad jump all concern me. Even Abraham ran a 4.55 back in the day. I think Van Noy will be a good player but I am greedy and want a freak of nature on the edge.

Look at Andre Ellington. He ran a slow 40 at the Combine last year and yet he plays in games with breakaway speed. Just watch Van Noy's game tapes:

Plus...just as BA said, the freaks of nature are taken in the top 10-12 picks. After that, you look at what you are getting as a football player.

That mock had the potential to give the Cards the best linebacker corps ever. Could you imagine Dee Ford, Washington, Dansby, and Van Noy?

I would weep tears of joy if that happened.

I am all for Van Noy because of his versatility and he is a 3 down LB but I really doubt he's there at #52.

He is not slow but the knock on him is that he is lacks explosion off the edge and is more of a pursuit tackler instead of being stout at the point of attack.

I would be elated to land Clinton Dix & Van Noy with the first 2 picks, don't think Hyde lasts until Round 3 but I would love to take De'Anthony Thomas there.
