Here is my theory To Keep "Q" by signing him to a New Contract...!!!

1:) Trade Darnell Docket for a !st and Third Round Pick in Next Years Draft.

2:) This will free up about $4.0 Million a Year give it to "Q" which would bring his Salary to over $8.0 Million. That is about what Fitz is now getting.

3:) Give "Q" The same Guaranteed money as Fitz. Problem solved.

You may now ask why. Well since 93 has shown good if not great motor he could easily replace DD and hopefully all of DD's penalties.

Here is the best thing about the trade other than keeping "Q" happy. We now would be starting to accumulate Draft picks. With the additional 1st rounder we may be able to parlay this into more draft picks. Kinda sounds like New England and the Cowboys front office.

Ken Whisenhunt learned a few "tricks" from this time as an assistant coach. One of these is developing depth and competition at all positions. The Pittsburgh Steelers organization has been great at having the next guy in line ready to step in when someone chooses to pursue their riches via free agency.

This doesn't mean that the organization be eager to show anyone the door (don't forget that both Boldin and Dockett are contracted for several more years), but when a players financial expectations exceed the worth to the team; i.e.- Calvin Pace; there is a plan and a player whom has been prepared to move into the position vacated by the outgoing player.

The result is a team that is able to continue a pattern of success. I hope, indeed believe, that the Cardinals are beginning to become that same type of organization.

And I am old enough to remember when the Steelers were the laughingstock franchise of the NFL!

Sorry, but this is a terrible idea.. Just saying..

It's rare, but we agree.

Don't like the trade, and he shouldn't get the same amount as Fitz.

The way I see it at current market conditions Fitz is overpaid, and Q is underpaid. Fitz is overpaid because he hit his escalators and had us over a barrel, we had to overpay to keep him or it would have cost us even more on his original deal.

Q is underpaid because we have him over a barrel he's in a signed contract.

The only way I see him getting Fitz money is waiting long enough for the market to move to where Fitz is no longer overpaid.

Both are great players and I hope we keep them both but I really doubt we're going to make a trade to free up room for Q.

Let Q save face. Give him a 10-year $100M contract that puts him in the "top 5," but backload the hell out of it. Pay him his $4M/year ($2.5M guaranteed) for the next 3-4, and let it jump up to $8-10 when he's on the decline. We'll cut him after about 5 more seasons (when his number gets ridiculous). So even after he's left the organization we'll be on the hook for his upfront salary (i.e. Jerry Rice). That'll satisfy his "retirement" plans and show that we value him as a player. If he wants to renegotiate again, then we cut his ass.

D-Dock is double teamed all of the time. Every play. The man takes up two blockers. It's insane that he does what he is able to do with the attention he gets. He is not to be traded.

We dont need to trade anyone or free up money in order to pay Q. We have over 6 million on the cap right now. I remember the day when we went into the season with 1.5 or so to play with in case of injuries. We can sign him and soak up about 4 million this year. Reducing later year cap hits.

I agree. Also if we have to cut someone I offer up Chike first. Not that Chike is a ad player, but he makes to much for a crowded LB corps.

Find me someone who would give us a 1 and a 3 for DD, and I'd do it. That would just be too much to say no to IMHO. I think you have overvalued him considerably. We would be lucky to get a second rounder for him, right now, and therefore I say we keep him.

Got to go a little more into the future on this one. Okeafer and Laboy are the only two OLB's under contract for next season.

We have the money to sign him now.

Here is the issue. Boldin said he wants 8 Mill a season, Cards dont want to pay him 8 Mill a season when he isnt high on the priority list with 3 years left on his deal. There are guys ahead of him on the priority list who have already waited there turn. No cutting in line. They have to deal with Warner, Wilson, and Dansby during this season and up coming offseason. 3 equally (or at minimum very close to the same level) important pieces.

There was 3 DT's traded this offseason. I think the highest value teams got in return for those 3 good DT's were a 2nd rounder, while two others got a 3rd and a 5th rounder.

The real question will be what to do with Warner after this season, especially if he leads them to the playoffs and has a 30 TD, 15 INT type of season. Do they really sign him to a 'starter-type' contract or try and get him to sign in incentive laden contract? Do they hand the team over to him for the next couple of years or do we go through this QB merry-go-round every off season and training camp?
