The YANKEES suck, its a hard place to play and he got the blame for them not winning, what a crock.
Didn't Randy Johnson go through the same thing in the Rotten Apple? There is something to that.

I don't know how selfish A-Rod is or isn't. But as much as I hate the East Coast and the Yankees, I wouldn't hold it against a player with his capabilities.

Again with the "NY is a tough place" stuff... I can assure you that NY is indeed a tough place in many respects. When taking into consideration sports and all that life cna toss at a person, it's probably the toughest place on the planet... Why do you think Frankie once said, "if I can make it here, I'll make it anywhere"??

26 World Championships... 13 consecutive post season appearances... All other cities should be so "rotten"...

With NY's payroll THEY should make the playoffs every year. The huge payroll disparity that NY traditionally has between the rest of the league virtually guarantees that the Yankees buy a playoff spot each year.

It doesn't guarantee that they will do anything with it...

Jon - really... you need to come with something new dude... Money does not equal Championships... It's a failed notion and anyone who has ever played sports would understand this...
Lots more involved than just stick high-priced talent on a team and telling them to "go win"... A-Hole has provided a crystal clear illustration of this.

"No rings this century"?? LMAO... Shall I begin to list all of the other teams that have "no rings this century"??

That was for you. And now that the Red Sox won again, I am ready for the Yanks to beat them down again.

Sort of like the warming of the earth, MLB is a bit out of kilter at the moment. Not exactly sure when things will be righted, yet, with the certainty of death and taxes, the Yanks soon exert their century-old dominance over the Red Sox... Count on it...

LMAO...spoken like a true Yankee fan :D

82, just out of curiosity, does it make you nervous to know that a possibly incompetent son is taking over your team, and might follow in the paths of Dolan and Buss?

BTW I'm not trying to be an ***** here, I'm really interested in hearing what you think of it

"Possibly incompetent"?? And that's based upon what exactly?? Hey, I'm not suggesting at all that Hank will be the greatest owner the game have ever known. But what exactly has he done to suggest he's incompetent?? In fact, I would say that thus far, the manner in which he has handled the A-Hole situation, the hiring of Girardi, the reassurance he has shown Pettite (which led Andy to publicly state today that he will either play for the Yanks for one more year, or retire), suggests that he just might have a 'lil somethin under the hood!
And hey, if he produced at even half the rate his pops did, I'd be ok with that...

I already said that money does not equal championships - do you have reading comprehension issues? Money does get you INTO the playoffs, though.

A-Rod took up what, 10% of the Yankme's bloated payroll...if not for him, NY would have gone home earlier (i.e. September).

I'll just list the teams that DO..

Arizona
Anaheim
Florida
Boston
White Sox
St. Louis
Boston

Triple-A Toledo makes playful contract offer to A-Rod

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Alex Rodriguez a Mud Hen?

Spurred by an offhand remark from George Steinbrenner's son, the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens want in on the A-Rod sweepstakes.

The Mud Hens playfully offered the prize free agent a deal Thursday -- a contract proposal that includes a bonus for hitting 75 home runs next year and leading them to 10 straight International League titles.

Rodriguez recently opted out of his $252 million, 10-year contract with the New York Yankees. That prompted Hank Steinbrenner, son of the Yankees owner, to tell the New York Times: "Does he want to go into the Hall of Fame as a Yankee, or a Toledo Mud Hen?"

The Mud Hens conjured up an offer to find out, said Jason Griffin, a spokesman for the Detroit Tigers' top farm team.

Toledo created a Hall of Fame plaque of Rodriguez wearing a Mud Hens hat and sent a letter to his agent, Scott Boras.

The deal stipulates that Rodriguez will have to compete for a spot with Toledo third basemen Mike Hessman, the league's most valuable player last season.

"Would your client be willing to play a different position?" the letter asked.

Wasn't based on anything substantial regarding the Yankees, but if my memory serves me right, the trend of sons following in the footsteps of theirs pops doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence. I see that thusfar, you're not too worried about it, and that's what I was interested in knowing.

I don't know... I think Mikey has done a pretty decent job with the Cards scince he took over for daddy Bowtie...

There's always cause for pause when a change as substantial as this takes place. However, IMO, Hank has gotten off to a pretty decent start. Cashman is still there. Girardi is a very sound baseball technician... We'll see what transpires as Hank is immediately facing some big challenges, negotiating with Pettite, Rivera, Posada - and then Free Agency and Trades... Should be interesting...
