He added he did not believe the killing was part of a burglary gone sour, and that Taylor had many enemies on the streets of Miami. (Continued)

No shock there

"I'm going to keep his name alive," Rolle said. "Every time I make a play, I'm definitely going to mention him. I'm going to represent my 21 as his 21."I definitely will go out there and play and do everything I can do because I know how much he loved the game," Rolle said. "I don't think there was anyone who lived it or took it as seriously as he did. I just told myself I'm not going to let his name die. We started when we were 6 years old, and we're going to finish it together."
Great quote.

Apparently, this was a vengeance attack and he was actually shot in the "male area" directly. Oh, and the girl he was with - Andy Garcia's daughter....

Antrell Rolle has cajones

Antrell Rolle is balls on. The Miami Dade Police PR are BSing on this one. They couldn't find a Cuban cigar in Hialeah. Just like the Brian Pata murder, this is gang related and these guys were targets. Welcome to the 3rd world. South Florida has every scumbag who has leaked out of his origin country and wouldn't know a law if it bit them on the ass. Taylor dared to confront the scum 3 years ago and paid for it with his life and no way the Law will admit they have absolute no control over these situations or the ability to do so. The public persecuted Taylor 3 years ago and villainized him for making a stand in protecting his property then. Rather than prosecute the criminals, Taylor was set up as the target.

Sadly, Antrell has set himself and family up for the same type retribution from the scum element.

Police: No sign Taylor targeted

By JORGE MILIAN

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Thursday, November 29, 2007

MIAMI — Former University of Miami standout Sean Taylor might have been murdered during a random burglary attempt and does not appear to have been targeted by his assailant, Miami-Dade Police Director Robert Parker said Wednesday.

But Arizona Cardinals cornerback Antrel Rolle said he thinks Taylor, a childhood friend and teammate with the Hurricanes, was singled out by somebody who knew him.

Former UM teammate suspects Taylor was targeted

"He really didn't say too much, but I know he was pretty much scared every time he went down to Miami," Rolle told The Associated Press.

Taylor, a native of Miami who was in his fourth season with the Washington Redskins, died Tuesday, a day after an intruder entered his home in Palmetto Bay and shot him in the upper thigh. The gunshot severed a femoral artery, causing Taylor to bleed to death.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the campus basketball arena of Florida International University. It will be open to the public, FIU Athletic Director Pete Garcia said.

The Redskins are chartering a 747 jet in order to fly 400 people, including the team's entire roster of players, to the funeral.

Wednesday night in Coral Gables, Taylor was remembered with a moment of silent meditation before the basketball game between UM and Alabama State. Earlier Wednesday, a memorial was held at Miami Gulliver Preparatory, where Taylor attended high school.

At a news conference, Parker said there was no evidence linking Taylor, 24, to his killer.

"There's nothing that indicates thus far that there's some kind of involvement on the victim's part," Parker said. "We have no reason to think this was anything other than a burglary or a robbery involving an intruder."

Speculation that Taylor had been targeted arose in part because of a Nov. 17 break-in at his home, when nothing was stolen.

Parker said police were "pulling all the stops" in the investigation and are confident of success. But he also asked for the public's help.

"We feel there is information from members of the public that has not made it yet to law enforcement," Parker said.

Rolle, who began playing football with Taylor in Homestead when they were 6 years old, indicated that his friend had enemies in South Dade.

"They say it was a burglary. It was absolutely not a burglary," Rolle said. "Down south, where we're from, there were many people talking to Sean, a lot of jealousy, a lot of angry people.

"Sean, he had a large group of friends, and he no longer hung out with those friends, so you never know where this came from."

In 2005, Taylor was accused by police of brandishing a gun near his home in a dispute over an all-terrain vehicle. Shortly after the incident, gunmen riddled his unoccupied SUV with bullets. They were never identified; Taylor ultimately was sentenced to probation in the gun incident.

But he was said to be thriving and at peace since the birth of his daughter 18 months ago. A Redskins official said several members of his family and his girlfriend, Jackie Garcia, visited the team's facility Wednesday.

Garcia was in the bedroom with Taylor and their daughter before dawn Monday when the shooting occurred.

Garcia is the niece of actor Andy Garcia, who released a statement to The Miami Herald. He said Taylor's "heroic action" saved the lives of Jackie and the baby and "is a testament to his courage and humanity."

According to UM's media guide, Jackie Garcia was a midfielder for the Hurricanes' soccer team (2002-04). She sustained a season-ending knee injury during the '04 season and left the team before the next season began.

The bullet hit him in the upper thigh and tore his femoral artery. His girlfriend was Andy Garcia's niece. Close though

Andy Garcia: Taylor saved niece's life
Posted on Wed, Nov. 28, 2007

Actor Andy Garcia hailed his niece's slain boyfriend, NFL star Sean Taylor, as a ''free safety until the end'' who showed bravery in the last moments of his life to protect his family.

Garcia is the uncle of Jackie Garcia, Taylor's girlfriend, who was in the house when Taylor was shot Monday morning, and who hid under the sheets with the couple's 18-month old baby when Taylor confronted his killer. Garcia and her family have kept quiet, declining to speak to the media.

Their silence was broken by Andy, who spoke highly of Taylor.

''His heroic action on that tragic night saved their life and is a testament to his humanity and courage,'' Garcia said in his statement, which was provided to The Miami Herald through his manager, Joanne Colonna. ``His spirit will live forever, in our hearts and through the legacy of his achievements and the family he leaves behind.''

Garcia and Taylor met at Gulliver Prep School, an exclusive school in Miami-Dade county where Taylor shone on the field as a young man, leading the school to a state championship. Garcia was a successful soccer player.

The couple attended the University of Miami together and had their first child last year, also named Jackie.

''Sean was known to many as an extraordinary athlete and unquestionable teammate,'' Garcia said. ``To those of us who had the good fortune to count him as a member of our extended family, we will always remember him as a caring and loving individual especially to his new family, his precious daughter Jackie and to the love of his life and mother to his child my niece Jacqueline.''

Why didn't Taylor just move his family to the D.C. area and put Miami in his rearview mirror if he was so afraid? Maybe he didn't want to be seen as someone who "turned his back" on the old neighborhood. Too bad. Hopefully, Rolle will spend his offseason time in PHX and stay away from S. Florida.

Just seems like more people that knew ST that are saying he was no longer in that element, despite Wilbon's statement that he "refused to divorce himself" from it.

But apparently that element wasn't done with him. Sad. :(

As Antrel alluded to and wally stated directly, I think this incident stemmed from payback for the ATV incident...

Pride, family connections, familiarity. Plenty of reasons why I now dislike South Florida. Plenty of legitimate reasons, why I remain.

BTW, as an aside, I accidentally caught an episode on MSNBC, a few weeks ago, that prtrayed a 2,500 memeber vicious gang with Guatemalen and El Salvadoran connections that was running amok in suburban D C area. Maybe you can run, but you can't hide. I understand what might have been Taylor's mindset.
You either run or you stay. BTW, don't ever try to seperate a Cuban chica from her family. They are tight familia.

Rolle should just keep quite until this things blows over a little, no need of drawing possibly unwanted attention to your own family.

Totally disagree. Rolle has cajones and loyalty. That is becoming increasingly more rare. There are people out there who know exactly what happened, why and who did it. Rolle is so much closer to the truth than the spew coming from the spin doctors at Miami / Dade justice dept. They did such a deplorable job with the Brian Pata murder, that another celebrity murder is not what they needed for their image as " to serve and protect " institution. They know who did it and why.

It could be a crime family for all we know he needs to be quite until the case is a little more solved or something. I don't care how big of balls you want to have you don't need to put your own family at risk just to run your mouth.

If this is actually gang related, isn't that what the gangs want? Everyone to be afraid to speak up because they will retaliate. Don't the gangs want people to mind their business and protect their family, Don't they want the community to feel that the police cannot protect them so they won't speak up? I don't think that Rolle is really putting himself at risk but somebody needs to take a stand or they will all be living in fear for the rest of their lives.

I don't get what he said that could have possibly put his family at risk. That he didn't think it was random and that he had enemies? If that's the case, thousands of us are at risk.

People are different. If you want to roll up in a cocoon and insulate yourself, that is a choice. A whole bunch of the rest of us won't do that. Sit back and watch us " tuff guys ". "Stupid people" are not going to rule my life. Maybe not Rolle's or Taylor's either.

BTW, I don't think " tuff guys " does justice to people who stand up.

I try so hard to ignore you, but the comments just get worse and worse.

First off, no way is this the work of a "crime family". To suggest it just comical.
Secondly, how is Rolle saying that it wasn't a burglary putting anyone out in the open.
Third, why on Earth would and grown man shut his mouth over his friends murder?
Being as you are the toughest ballsiest man on the planet, this post from you really strikes me as stange

I was going to say DC isn't much, if any, better than Miami when it comes to gangs.

Femoral Artery v/s Groin Shot

Believe me they are clooooossssseeeee. I had a central line put in 5 years ago in the ER and they cut you about 2 inches from the jewels, pull the artery out with a hook and stick a catheter in it. Painful going in and extermely uncomfortable comng out. "Upper thigh hitting artery" = "getting shot in the groin" for all practical purposes.

That is MS-13, and they are no joke.

2,500 maybe just in this area, but they are everywhere now. With all of the illegals pouring into the country, their numbers are expected to reach 100,000 in the US by 2010. It is really an epidemic and I dont comprehend why it isn't being dealt with more seriously.

Any job site you visit now anywhere in the MD/DC/VA area is loaded with these guys. The have their own portal pots on the sites and and their own contracts.

Two years ago one of my buddies at work got to arguing with one of them who was doing some effed drywall in one of the houses my company was trimming out. The guy walked out side and whistled and within minutes my buddy, me and about 15 other random white guys from the site looking to help out were getting stomped by about 150 of these guys. Luckily I had just sent my helper out to get lunch and he pulled up in the middle and rammed them away with the work van and gave us time to jump in and get away. The skins then felt it neccessary to pelt our van with bricks the entire way out of the site.

Yup. Those were the featured ones on the show. Where is Bob Lee Swaggert?
