if this is really the case, he needs to be freaking cut. I mean... REALLY? if he needs to be fired up to get the starting nods after suckign eggs last year and so far this year, the guy has nothing inside of him that makes me believe he even belongs on a roster.
BLOK sucks big time eggs, dinosaur eggs. I have been in disbelief ever since they made the trade and gave him impact QB dollars. I have been in even more disbelief since they paid the bonus and let this mench (NOT THE GOOD MEANING OF MENCH EITHER) back on the team.

I wish they would've never done this.:bang::bang::bang:

Well on its way to being the worst acquisition in franchise history. Such an awful... awful move.

Leinart was 11/16 for 98 last night...... dude always looks good in pre season,....hell, looked good in regular season when he first got here........ wonder when he is gonna break again......
IMO, that's the only question mark with him. I still think he otherwise could be a decent NFL starter for someone (not here--too much transpired for him to lead effectively in AZ).

I don't want to feel sorry for the Raiders, but holy crap! They had to play the Cowboys on a Monday and then travel to play the Cardinals on a Friday? What idiot decided that was a good idea?

If Kolb can't do it now, he ain't gonna do it ever.

16 attempts, 98 yards. Yup, he can still check it down.

11 completions for 98 yards...right at 9 yards per completion...minus some .o15 or some such.....over 66% completion rate....no INT's.........

I would take 66% completions for 9 yards per completion and 0 INT's from any one of our QB's and be excited about our possibilities this season.

anyone consider that the reason Lil Sweetness will be starting this week is to help give kolb the best possible chance to succeed?? Adding more threat to the running game should slow the pass rush and open up the PA...

those stats say he threw short, safe passes all night. Not that good looking really

He was, it was the Monday night game if anyone wanted to watch it. 3-0, a real stinker.

It was Captain check down at his finest.

I laughed as even Gruden said the cowboys defender made a great tackle on the check down.

I might have missed a pass of his, but all of the ones I saw (minus one) were either short, or 10-15 yards down the field comebackers. Alot of his passing yards were really YAC (running back, and I think a screen), not yards down field.

I think he connected on one 15 yard slant where the player was moving forward. But might have missed one other.

To be fair to Leinart, if they can develop a system where he doesn't need to throw the ball 15 yards downfield, and have a stellar running game, he can be a competent starting QB. As long as he doesn't get injured.

As for Skelton, it should be that way if Kolb continues to play as poorly as he has. You can't be bad and injury prone and win a QB battle. It might be the Titanic vs the Bismarck, but at least the Bismarck went down firing.

I really hope Skelton gets a chance. I'd like to see what the kid can do.

Oh, wait ... my calendar says it's 2012, not 2011.

That is a brilliant analogy. Hilarious, I love it.

Actually 9 yrd per completion is pretty crappy, per attempt would be outstanding. Active yards per completion leaders- Tied @ 41st w/ 10.4 yds per complete- Kyle Boller and Sam Bradford.

None of our guys are even in the top 41......... you question the overall value of yards per comletion when you see this...

Derek Anderson (28)

Top 10.....SCUD himself...gee, we should have kept that one

high completion percentages while protecting the ball gives you a chance to win the game...then you take your shots down field when they present themselves.
Not trying to spread any Leinart love or anything.... but when he aint broke the dude is head and shoulders above what we currently have "Battling" for the starting job.

Those are NFL QB numbers. You know what isn't? 1/4, 9 yds and a pick.

Geez, are we really gonna rally around Cpt Checkdown?
Who cares what he throws for? He is every bit as brittle as Kolb.

Maybe it's time this organization finds someone capable of scouting QB's?

If Kolb proves to the coaching staff he is not the answer as soon as the end of the Raider game, I would not be shocked if they cut him there and then. They did it with Leinart, and would then go into the season with Skelton, Bartel and Lindley. And even if they will not then admit it, they might being doing the franchise a favor because either Skelton does the impossible and the starting position helps make him our QB of the future...or we sink and then are in a great position to draft our QB of the future which is usually how acquiring a good starting QB is only possible.

Doesn't matter, with the starters playing "until they get it right," Kolb will get hurt and Skelton will win the job by default. In fact, Whiz probably knows that since Kolb is made of glass, "get it right" means take some hits without getting hurt when talking about Kolb.

I'm not sure if we have the capspace to absorb cutting Kolb this year.

Interestingly: Somers seems to think Shefters report is significant

Something to the effect of ESPN got Warner's starting and Anderson starting in similar fashion -- so the belief is that ESPN has a good source inside the building

The fact that Skelton is in the lead is hardly a shock to anyone who watched the games.

You know what also bites Dew, if Kolb does win the starting position, we will have to have three QBs active for every game because the guy is fragile. Kolb has not proven to stay healthy, to the point that it really makes one think that the backup needs a backup as well lol

FWIW Jurecki thought there's something to this report also and on the radio today said its obvious someone in the FO was talking to Schefter.

I can't say it's a surprising report. Especially since I don't think Kolb will be cut. They've paid him the bonus: the question is simply whether they want to retain Bartel over Kolb, and I imagine they still feel Kolb has more upside as a backup than Bartel. Teammates may have questions about him, but it doesn't seem like he's any kind of a cancer. Maybe there will be LESS pressure on him if he starts the season as a backup. Doesn't solve the QBOF issue, but he might play decently, however overpaid.
