"When you play long enough you're going to be on the wrong side of this sometimes," Rodgers said. "But I have confidence in those guys and myself that when it matters for all of the marbles, we're going to show up."

Odd quote. So there are times where they just don't show-up because it doesn't mean anything to them? Nice rip at all the teams that won't make the play-offs.

To answer your question. Yes there are times where teams just don't show up. Either their mind is elsewhere or they just weren't expecting things to happen the way they did. Also it is common in sports (football especially) for things to just snowball both negatively and positively. That being said I do believe that the Cards are the better team and they win this same game at least 8-9 out of 10 times.

He's not saying they didn't show up he's saying they got s beating and yes if you've ever done anything competitive in life you know there are times when it's just not your day.

He's saying that things will be better next time and that's exactly what he should say

Yep. It was perfect storm for them with the injuries, and then more injuries, and then the turnovers, and then the run game being eliminated. Can't expect everything to fall into place like that again.

Nothing in this league repeats itself, except for Mike McCarthy's playbook. ;)

Actually, when I was reading the recap on SI, it jumped out at me too.

The complete quote was this:

''This was a playoff-style game and we played terrible,'' Rodgers said, ''but we have won a lot of games here. When you play long enough you are going to be on the wrong side at times, but I am confident that we have guys and myself that, when it matters for all the marbles, guys will show up.''

After reading it a few times, the sentences "we've won a lot of games here", and, "when you play long enough your going to be on the wrong side" aren't necessarily connected.

But honestly, my first impression when i read that quote was that Rodgers was making it sound like it was a matter of chance or luck that GB lost. Not that the cardinals kicked their @sses.

I'm not trying to make something out of nothing. I just found Rodgers' choice of words to be kind of peculiar.

It is obvious the Cardinals are the better team. But being the leader of the Pack Rodgers can’t say we suck, and we have no chance of beating the Cardinals if we meet again in the playoffs. He has to at least give his teammates confidence and hope that there is a chance to beat the Cardinals if they meet again even if the odds are against it. That is all he was doing in my opinion.

Certainly he wasn't talking about playing at UofP, because they are 2-1 against us in this stadium. Only loss came when we played the 2010 final regular season game, and ran a very vanilla scheme because we were scheduled to play them in the WC game the following week.

I couldn't understand that absurd statement either. The only game they won here was a game where we purposefully lost. The other two games, with with huge implications were total mission failures. UofP is where their season comes to die.

Didn't say it didn't matter just that he's confident when it's in the playoffs they will play better. I don't think he was taking a shot at us or any other team, just saying I am confident that when it is playoff time, we'll play better.

HE's in a tough spot this year their Wr situation is terrible, the OL isn't great, Lacy hasn't been the same, he literally is the entire offense, if he doesn't play well they lose.

Maybe as to the "here" part he was referring to the Packers?

He's saying if they face us again, in two weeks or so, they will beat us.

I would expect that if we see them again it'll be a lot harder to beat them.

At some point you might not want to show anything for that kind of game just in case you meet again.

Now I do not think that was what happened but playing them again I can assure you they will have ideas of what to do to try and win the game.

I highly doubt if it will work but I wouldn't put it past them to have just played a little dumb and lame on this one.

If we beat Seattle on Sunday, Green Bay will have an interesting dilemma. If they win against the Vikings, they would have to play the Seahawks in the first round, however if they lose to Minnesota, then they would get to play the Redskins. I know you always play to win, but that might be awfully tempting.

True, but by beating MN this week they secure a home playoff game instead of traveling to Washington.
