Didn't we have another really old WR come in for a workout at the beginning of the first free agency period? What happened to him?

Or that free agent defensive end who used to play for Tampa but I think played for New York (Jets) last year? What happened to him?

Steve White - signed with the Packers - he wasn't good enough for us to upset the salary balance on the team.

What salary balance? The one where we're sitting on more cap money than we're paying to the players?

Rison had his signing bonus with Oakland confiscated for back child support. He bounced $150,000 worth of checks when he was in KC. Not exacly a pillar of the community. We could do without him. He is old too.

I was being sarcastic and using the reason apparently Graves didn't think Big Daddy was worth signing.

Perfect. Then we're on the same page.

That's an absolute half truth.

I listened to Graves, and one of the reasons that we're not interested in Wilkinson, is his lack of production. Look at his numbers, not really any better than Russel Davis.

i know it's been raised, but only a bit. this SCARES THE HECK OUTTA ME WITH RESPECT TO OUR WR CORPS. we're thinkin' of bringin' in a bad apple, and an old one at that! that means our young WRs with POTENTIAL are not living up to that POTENTIAL. this is what i've been screaming about all offseason. we put all our eggs in the single basket of POTENTIAL and it seems that the POTENTIAL is not being fulfilled. that POTENTIAL (which does not mean bad, but could mean unproductive) could prove the undoing of the entire offense. if our wrs can't scare anyone (other than me at the present time) then we're seein' 8 in the box and with our oline still largely sitting out practices and an old rb in emmitt, we're seeing a lot of 1 yards and a cloud of dust - 3 and outs! the sky is indeed falling, and our wrs seem to be dropping it!

But they are better and he would be an upgrade over what we have. How does signing him to a one year deal screw anything up?

Come on guys, quit getting your panties in a knot.

1) We don't even "really" know if Graves is even interested. The blurb was Andre himself talking.

2) Andre was a great player only a few years ago. What if he still can play?

I laugh to no end sometimes when I read the "Chicken Little" reaction on this board sometimes!

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

It doesn't but do you really want to see them cut a young guy for an overpaid, under productive player?

At first, as a knee jerk reaction, I wanted to sign him, but then I realized I was coming down the "Daniel Snyder syndrome"

Daniel Snyder syndrome- A brain disorder that affects GMs and fans alike, in which the affected person wants to sign a player based on name but not on production.

I once read that Rison threw the Super Bowl ring he got with the Packers in the Fox River in case anyone is interested in looking for it.

Say what you want about Snyder, the guy cares about winning and fields a team that gets the fans excited. I would love to see the Cards be as agressive as the Skins in terms of player aquisitions.

With the exception of last year, he has outperformed all our DTs right? And last year can admittedly be written off due to injury. Now one thing I do admit is it may mean the end of one of the BIG 3: Tanner, Bell, Davis but it would still be a step up.

BTW Krang, your initial post on this thread was not clear RISON made the remarks so you generated the sky is falling reaction.

I love bad moon rison. He would bring so much attitude to this team. He is better than any reciever we have right now. The young kids could gain a lot from watching him play on the field. He would play for the league minimum too. Why not, worse case scenario he gets cut and we dont lose much money. We have it to spend why not take a chance.

ah, besides, haven't really had anything to get me all worked up in a while. needed to outlet.

still have faith (some) in our wrs panning out, this just doesn't seem to be a real positive piece of evidence supporting such faith.

You might be right about me not telling them Rison himself said it, though I suspect that a few of the D---siders would still have that reaction no matter what. :D

I would refute your point with stats, but unfortunately I couldn't find Big Daddy's stats on NFL.com. :D

Read Cubbie's post earlier in this thread. He gets it.

This is such an idiotic rumor I didn't want to respond to it but the dark side needed to feed it's bile supply and jumped on it.

Oh Goodness No!!!

Jim O, Go find Graves, and smack him across the face a few times. Not REALLY hard, just enough for him to come to his senses.

Here are some stats I found for Big Daddy:

The problem is, do you (not you Krang but generally you) think it is worth losing one of the BIG 3 to bring in Wilkinson because the stats show me he would be an upgrade... That is a question I am not even sure I can answer. I want the D to play better so bad that I say go for it BUT in every other case, I want the youngsters to stay since they are the cornerstones of the teams future.

Isn't the quesition more are you willing to give up on Dennis Johnson in order to get Dan Wilkenson?

There's no reason that you can't carry five DTs (Bryant, Bell, Tanner, Wilkenson, Davis), three DEs (Vanden Bosch, King, Pace) and a swing man (Wakefield).

Then you have 6 LBs (Thompson, McKinnon, Fisher, Darling, Woods, Hayes)

And 8 DBs (Starks, Jackson, Wilson, Barrett, Rheinhart, Hill, Lucas, Eason/Stone). That's 22 players.

Jeez Skkorp - relax man - in case you hadn't noticed and since you've been gone I'll give you the benefit of the doubt - but the darkside has cooled a bit - besides only kerouac "jumped" allover this and all he said was that if true this was a bad sign. Get over us already man - no need to take pot shots - we don't take em at you or the other people who seem to think opposite of us on many issues.

If THAT is the question then I say yes...because Johnson could slide to the practice squad could he not (practice squad rules are a bit fuzzy to me)?

22 players on D. Is that the max number in your opinion or could they conceivably keep 23 and still hang onto Johnson?
