ESPN analyst Adam Schefter doesn't see Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter being available when the New England Patriots come up on the draft board at No. 4.

He recently appeared on "NFL Live" and stated his case.

“It’s not gonna happen. Abdul Carter is going to go before the New England Patriots pick at four," said Schefter. "It would be an upset right now if Abdul Carter made his way to number four. I would handicap Abdul Carter right now, as the likely pick at number two, today.”

Carter would immediately become another weapon for an already-loaded Patriots defense.

He is coming off a season that saw him record 68 tackles, 12 sacks, 23.5 tackles for a loss and two forced fumbles. He's an explosive playmaker who could be too good for the three teams ahead of the Patriots on the draft board to pass up.

With the Tennessee Titans likely drafting Miami quarterback Cam Ward, the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants are the most likely landing spots for Carter.

Carter to the Patriots would certainly be a dream scenario. Anything can happen on draft day, but with Carter's stock continuing to rise, it's hard to envision him sliding down the board.
