Caldwell? I could coach Manning. Would love to see Rivera come here.

The same could be said coaching the likes of Urlacher, Harris, Vasher, and Briggs.
I just don't like the fact that he's never held the reigns anywhere.

Valid point but at least Rivera is responsible for the entire D. Caldwell coaches one of the smartest QB's to ever play in this league.

AGree, but go to the Colts websight and click on his BIO. HE has had success with just about every QB he has coached, both in the pros and college.
Hey, if Rivera turns out to be the guy , we will really need to be smart in what we do with the offense. On the other hand, If Caldwell is the guy, we need to really be smart in what we do with the defense.

and Lovie was a good defensive coordinator with the Rams and brought that to the Bears. There's no guarantee Ron had any involvement in the defensive calls, kind of like Crennel in NE

Which is why you meet with him in an interview and pick his brain. See how much he was involved and how much football knowledge he has.

Eliminating an offensive coordinator as a valid candidate because his boss was offensive minded or a defensive coordinator because his boss was defensive minded, is simply dumb.

I agree, I'm just playing devils advocate in this respect. Its just something that concerns me in the back of my mind.

If Rivera is the pick, thats fine by me, I'm just hoping the really do all of their homework on this very important search
