3rd rounder. That's where he was taken.

Just because he was taken there doesn't mean thats what hes worth. Thomas Jones was a high first round pick, does that mean he is worth it? I dont think so.

Both players came out one year early as juniors in 2002. 2004 will be their THIRD year as a pro, but in that they came out early, a case could be made that last year was in fact, really their first year. The QUANTUM leaps that they both made from 2002 to 2003 indicates to me that they are starting to get close to the potential that we hoped when we drafted them. It takes time to learn the DE and S positions at this level and to expect them to be fully up to speed is being unfair. Now if they don't show any further improvement from 2003 to 2004 what with better coaching, then I'll start to get on their asses......but it is far to early to be climbing all over them at this point.

We gave up on Darwin Walker early.....and he's a solid starter in Philadelphia. If we hadn't diven up on him as early as we did, we would not be in the market for a DT as a position of need now.

Saying this is actually their first year is horse crap. Maybe physically you are right but they still have had two years under the system. They should know how it works by now. You cant be running into your own teamates(figuratively and literally). He has shown promise on blitzes but i havent seen much promise in his coverage skills.

What you are doing is giving players that come out early an excuse as to why they have not performed well at the pro level yet. They both would have been better off staying another year. IMO the only way you should come out early is if you know you are a lock in the first round. Both of them were not even second round locks. They should know the playbook. If it was a question of physicality(sp?) then it would be a different story, but sometimes Wilson looks like he has never run that play before. I am not asking for greatness i am asking for well run plays and decent coverage.

Actually, yes, that's EXACTLY what it means. You were talking about him as a RFA. As a RFA, if we offer the low tender, I think it is, we'd get compensation in the form of a pick-the same round pick he was taken. Which is the 3rd, not the 4th.

Now, to you, he may not be worth a 3rd rounder in value, but that's not what's been under discussion.

It would be possible to draft Taylor, and put him at Will Linebacker.

He's bigger than Ray Thompson, and is hellaciously fast. Then you leave Wilson where he is, and teach him to play safety better.

It's possible, and just a thought.

Dreaming is free, though. I still think our pick will be Fitzgerald, or Eli / Big Ben. We will get one of those 3......

I think Wilson would improve if moved to CB, a Starks Wilcon CB duo would be great, paired with a Jackson/Taylor safety duo. I'm all for trying this

I am also kinda infavor of that. But you cant think WIlson will beable to START at CB as soon as he moves to corner.

But he would probably be a solid upgrade as the third corner/nickle LB.

This would be a good move, we need defense more than a WR or QB. Although I would be happy with any of those guys also.

Win/Win situation IMO

Stouts right. It depends on the tender offer. However, if the Cards take a guy int he 1st but only tender him at $551,077 or above the Cards wouldnt get a 1st rnd pick, but instead a 3rd pick.

Restricted free agents - Group II: Players who have been tendered a qualifying offer by their respective clubs are subject to draft choice compensation and right to match by their previous club. The draft choice compensation scale is based on compensation offered by the new club.

OFFER COMPENSATION

$551,076 or below None

Over $551,076 - $757,729 Third-round choice

Over $757,729 - $895,498 Second-round choice

Over $895,498 - $1,102,152 First-round choice

Over $1,102,152 - $1,377,689 First-and third-round choices

Over $1,377,689 - $1,653,227 First-and second-round choices

Over $1,653,227 - $1,928,765 Two first-round choices

Over $1,928,765 - $2,342,071 Two first-round and one second-round choice

Over $2,342,071 Three first-round choices

Each additional $1,377,689 One additional first-round choice to a maximum of five

Restricted free agents - Group IV: Players who have never signed a contract, are considered "defected" and whose club retains the right to match due to the club making a qualifying offer.

Restricted free agents - IPE: Players with insufficient professional experience to qualify for free agency but have received qualifying offers from their clubs, who retain their exclusive rights.
