Wow, was it because of his injury?

He is 35 years old and can't stay on the field. Father time catches up to everyone. Keim was smart letting him go even though it was difficult from an emotional standpoint.

Bring him back for ONE day so he can retire a Card.

This will happen at some point.

AW I think wants to keep playing but the reality is that the run supporting, heavy hitting safety has gone the way of the Dodo bird. You need range, speed, and ball skills these days to play safety more than tackling.

Tell that to Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks starting strong safety Kam Chancellor. Or Arizona Cardinals Top 10 Defense starting strong safety Yeremiah Bell.

Or the team that won the super bowl the year before the Ravens. Bernard Pollard might as well play the game with a hatchet in his right hand he's going for that knock out if he sees an opening

Make no mistake this is still football.

Absolutely. 100% this needs to happen. Can anyone else recall anyone being reported as crying when the Cards released them? I love this guy, and he will be in the ring of honor someday. He was totally the bridge from the bad, bad NFL franchise to the legitimate NFL franchise we root for today.

As much as I loved Aeneas Williams, he forced a trade. Adrian never wanted to leave for any reason. Truly, what a change he was for loyalty from players for this franchise,

AW is the face of the culture change here, and the model of loyalty and persistence in the NFL. Don't get me wrong he isn't the only one (Fitz & DD are next in line) but he deserves the ring the day he retires. No need to wait around.

I don't get it. I didn't get it when we released him and signed Bell, and I don't get it now.

Wilson could play better (I don't know how much better) than Bell did last year in the same role.

Bell was a more reliable tackler than A-Dub. That was the problem with A-Dub. Was a hitter but after his arm injury he didn't tackle well. I love the guy too...but his play was diminishing. Wasn't good in coverage either...and neither was Bell.

+1 reference A-Dub's diminishing tackling ability in the last year or two here.

He has the big red rage experience to fall back on- if he wants too! He is done as a player at 35
