The Vikings are in second place in the North, but if they lose their finale and Detroit wins, the Lions would be second by virtue of a better division record.

Go Lions. Next fall wouldn't be the same without our annual game against the Lions. Maybe the NFL would let the Cards play them on Thanksgiving.

Expect a lot of holdouts league-wide as the cap continues to grow. Players are seeing that other lesser players are getting paid more then they are and they want their piece of the pie

I hate it to but read the blurb below. If I am him I want a new deal too. Now how about a deal where he loses money for missing tackles, bad plays, penalties, missing games etc.

His current contract, signed near the end of 2004, does not expire until after the 2009 season. That deal was worth $21 million over five years and included a $4.55 million signing bonus.

Since then, NFL players' salaries have increased greatly as the salary cap has risen. Troy Polamalu of the Steelers signed a five-year contract during thesummer worth $33 million, about $15 million of which was guaranteed. On Friday, Indianapolis safety Bob Sanders agreed to a new contract worth $37.5 million over five years, including $20 million guaranteed.

He says he's the best safety in the NFC and deserves to be paid that way. I think he has a valid point. Sanders just inked a 5/37.5 Million deal and I don't think he is that much better than Wilson. He is an integral part of the D and he deserves to be paid as such.

He says he is the best safety in the NFL and wants to be paid as the best. I'm not so sure I agree. He's good, but if he wants this to get nasty I would consider dealing the guy. This type of stuff makes me sick and it also reminds me why college sports rule.

If the Cardinals dont find a way to keep him and keep him happy they will never get better. He is a difference maker. Didnt you notice the decline in the defense after he got hurt. The Cardinals have too few players noticed by other teams and the media. Wilson is one of the guys that gets noticed. Identify, develop and retain talent. It is as simple as that but even with it that simple Bidwill in the past hasnt been able to figure that out. A team cant act as a developmental, or minor league, for the other teams if it expects to compete.

I'm open to keeping the core intact, within reason, if the main guys want to put performance based bonuses into their contract I can understand that.

These guys don't work a 9 to 5 (hell, how many people really do?) and their twilight years are going to be rough for their football sacrifice so I'd like to see them paid well (armed forces, cops, etc are getting ripped off in comparison, but that's a topic for another forum).

My gut reaction is negative though. Duality of man's mind I guess.

so what...we say oh you did what we paid you to do, so here's more money? he signed a deal through 09. was he planning on being only worth what we paid him til that time? he's paid to be great. if you dont like not being paygraded, sign shorter deals. the whole thing is ridiculous. "But mommy that boy's getting THREE popsicles!"

That is the old Bidwill mind set that has prevented the Cardinals from succeeding. Old Cardinals like Hart complained about the nickle and dime approach by Bidwill. You have to make your organization a place where people want to come work. Recognition of the employee's value is essential.

If you had the choice of working for an employer that docked your pay for tardiness and sickness and charged you for photo copies that were mistakes or you could work for an employer that gave you paid sick time and didnt charge for tardiness or mistakes who would you work for?

Why wouldn't he be asking for a new deal? Graves said reworking some of our core players' deals is a priority.

Sorry he can ask but its nto the teams fault that salaries went up. Thats pretty much a given in the NFL.

They already took care of him as a core player back when they extended him on this current deal. I could see him asking for a new deal to be worked on next year maybe with only a year remaining. But not in 08.

No love for Q huh?

Love Q - Wilson is more consistent IMHO though. I thought he was having a down year even when he was playing and then I realized a couple things.

1) How far did our pass rush, run stopping AND pass defense regress once he was out. Other injuries contributed but we are a Top 10 defense with him. Bottom 10 without him.

2) Even in what I considered a down year he had a couple game changing turnovers (I remember the Pitt one definitively and I think in SEA or BAL he had an absolute game changer)

Plus he is as much a winner and leader on D as Q is on offense. He got royally screwed on two penalties this year that might have been the difference in both of those games.

Pay him whatever he wants. I feel the same way about Q but only the last game and the BAL game are games I remember him carrying us. Fitz was the better player this year.

If AW gets a new deal and Fitz get restructured Quan will want a new deal too and so will Dockett.
Yep, its a never ending cycle... I love our players, but--at some point-- the buck has to stop...

Saying that wilson is more consistent than Q is pretty much laughable IMO.

Wilson is the epitomy of hot and cold and many times more cold over long stretches.

Your right Fitz was the better player this year. But dont really see the relevance there?

BTW I am usually against this because the advantage as a FO in being smart and getting young players locked up is that you get them at a reduced rate once they blow up BUT you also take the risk that they never get better.

But Wilson and Q are the heart and soul of the franchise. I break the rules for them.

Shane shane shane - I love Q too bro - don't take it as a personal affront.

But Wilson is EVERYTHING to our D. And when he "disappears" its because teams sytematically take him out of the game - allowing big plays from Dockett, Dansby and others.

Q had a down year. Hes still my favorite player on the team and I think he will be back to his a$$ kicking self next year. But I wanted more this year from him (and yes I know the hip played a part)

No personal afront takin in anyway. I just think that calling Wilson more consistent is untrue. Wilson absolutley changes the way the D plays when he is on the field. Thats because of his athleticism and his ability to make plays.

However he does all to often miss tackles and whiff in coverage. He make a few BIGGG plays a year lately and teams do account for him. But just as often hes a liability.

Agree to disagree. Since last year the only plays I see Wilson "miss" is when he gets jobbed for being aggressive with penalties. Otherwise he is a tackling machine and is solid in coverage and with the playmaking as well. And i can't remember him ever dropping a sure INT like I have with everyone else.

Adrian is only calling himself the best only because the true top dog died. Ride out your contract my man, at least until next year.
