We should have signed him for the year to mentor Greene and Rolle... if we had done that.. he would be in game shape to fill in for a few games while we are short. Hell, with the choices we have now, he still might be an upgrade:shrug:

Just because a guy could play football doesn't mean that he can coach it.

See? Add Williams to the list!!!

What coaching experience does he have? I'm getting really really sick of seeing rookie coaches on the cards' staff.

Why don't we bring in some assistant coaches that have actually proven something somewhere, for a change. Green seems to be the only proven coach on the staff. Pathetic.

I think

Williams could have been brought back for a numer of reasons. But, the most important of them all, they should bring him back to retire his number, with Till'ys, and put it in OUR new ring of honor. If he can help the pups in the meantime, Great!

No retired numbers.

Ring of Honors only.

Agreed...and only for Tillman and any future superstars that lead us to super bowl championships.

Too many players are in rings of honor or have #'s retired in all sports IMO.

Because most experienced assistant coaches won't work for $8.43 an hour.

Ha! I read this post and thought, "Me too!"

Then I saw it was me who wrote it and I realized I really am alone in this world. :(

Dont think it is right to retire the number of a non-HOFer when there are HOFers not retired. If the Cardinals were an NFL organization they would retire 72 and 81. As for Tillys. Are you referring to Pat Tilley one of the great Card WRs?

Williams left here with a not very good opinion of the organization. It is interesting how the people intimately familiar with the Cards leave the organization with a bad taste in their mouth. Why do you think he would come back?

I would like to think that if a person leaves someplace he spent a long time at, then he could come back, at a new position of power to try to change the culture of what they did not like.

Then again I've quit jobs I once loved and still wouldn't go back...
unless they made me president of the company!

Didn't say he would

but now that you ask. He didn't leave with a bad taste. He wanted to go to a team with a chance for a ring. The organization respected him and his loyalty to grant that with no bad bones between them. He spent most of his career here, jsu tas many other "greats" move on when their time is almost up and then come back to have their number retired or put into the ring.
Tilly was meant to be Tillman as I'm sure no one will ever wear that number again.
Williams just stated that there was a big difference in the perks between the Lambs and us. That's all.
He should not go unnoticed by the organization is all I'm saying. He was one of the most loyal ever. IMO.

I now this post will bring a ton of abuse on me. But here it goes. I have never been a fan of retiring numbers of players for things they do off the field. I did not favor the retirement of J.V. Cain's 88 or Pat Tillman's 40. J.V. Cain might have become a great TE. He had all the tools. He did not get a chance to prove his potential as a player.

Pat Tillman played long enough to show me that he was an overachiever. He absolutely made the most of his ability. However, I do not think is play on the field was sufficently great to deserve retirement of his number.

Retirement of players numbers for reasons other than on the field results is particularly irritating to me when people recognized by the NFL as truely great players dont get their numbers retired. If a guy makes the NFL HOF his number should be retired.

Very few Cardinals have convinced objective observors of the NFL that there is anything great about the organization. A HOFer shows those people the Cards can be great. Highlighting their contribution can contibute positive points to the general opinion that this team is hapless and hopeless.
