the first round of the draft also looks deep in OT talent

IF the Cards end up drafting in the 20s -- its possible the best player on the board is an OT

Jonah Williams is under contract for 2025 -- wouldnt be the worst thing to draft a high end OT, play him at guard in 2025 with a move to RT post Williams

Haven't read the whole thread so if he's already in there I apologize. Kid I would love to see us get is Nick Nash Wr from San Jose State. Travis Hunter was the best player in the country and deserved the Heisman, Nash was the best Wr and should have gotten the Biletnikoff IMO, led the country in catches, yards and TD's.

6'3" about 200, not a sprinter but not slow. Converted QB in fact he played some QB at SJSU before switching, so he has a special feel fo . the Wr position. Having played QB he understands reading defenses at a level most Wr's don't. Highpoints the ball, makes the tough catches, is physical after the catch, not so much elusive as he gets more yards on toughness. Hard to compare to an NFL guy maybe a bit of Cooper Kupp not sure.

Dad played WR at SJSU too and I think played in one NFL game, Kenny Nash

Looks like a real student of the game. Quicker than fast.

Not a high priority but we do need an upgrade at back-up QB.
Clayton Tune doesn't seem to have the confidence of the team to do much when he is in there.

How can you possibly know this?

Yea I did.
I was looking at the DL depth chart and what the team decides to do in FA along the DL will be telling for the draft.

They have consistently carried 6 DL players. I think they will try to re-sign Roy Lopez. With that, the 2025 DL room likes this.

Justin Jones
Bilal Nichols
Darius Robinson
Dante Stills
Roy Lopez (I think the re-sign)

While I wouldn't let Jones or Nichols determine who I draft in round 1, the DL depth chart looks to be miles ahead of the EDGE depth chart at this point. And if the Cardinals spend on a top DL, it could impact things further. It will be interesting.

If they bring back Lopez then I think we can cancel out them drafting Grant.

But what if they resign Browning & we still got Ojulari healing? I think Dante is our only competent 3T.

Agree that re-signing Browning and then additional FA EDGES and Ojulari makes it more of a toss up again.

Regarding 3T. Do they project Robinson as a 3T? Is he a 5T? I probably should pay more attention to his exact alignment over the rest of the year.

The reason I ask that is because if they think that DRob and Stills are both 3T players, maybe Grant offers appeal by being stout at POA in base but has more rush ability than Nichols and Lopez in even fronts.

I definitely feel like the Cardinals short list in rounds 1 and 2 at DT are...

Mason Graham - Should be gone
Walter Nolen - Great first step
Derrick Harmon - Good first step
Kenneth Grant - Physical freak but maybe just a NT
Deone Walker - Bad Sr year but good rush ability and physical freak
Nic Scourton - Potentially a DRob clone
Shemar Stewart - Potentially a DRob clone but not good pass rush
LT Overton - Similar to size to DRob and Stills

Shemar and Grant are question marks IMO because of pass rush ability.

Deone is a question mark because of his pad level and bad season.

Scourton depends on his actual size.

LT is a round 2 guy.

So, two for sures are Graham and Nolen. Potentials are Harmon, Grant, Walker, and Scourton.

I've been thinking about this and it is a MAJOR problem. Jones and Nichols will be on the team, and I feel Monti will count them as "good as a new signing," as they pessimistically say in the soccer world, since they went out so early with injuries. That leaves a packed DT room and Monti with an excuse not to do a lot at the position. I do not like that idea one bit.

I'm sure we can't get rid of either Jones or Nichols so early, but for my money I'd much rather have Collier on the roster. Those guys sucked out loud.

I am having this convo in another thread. I don't believe Jones or Nichols will impact our draft moves, but do think they impact our FA moves on the DL.

Yes, and I don't like how they will impact our moves in FA on the DL. Is there any conceivable way we can get rid of one or both?
As long as they don't affect the draft I don't see an issue. It seems it takes everyone a few games to get the hang of this system. I seem to recall improved play prior to ir... the big issue is long term dominance...and those guys won't likely be available as FA, we gotta draft them.

On a side note.....
Did you see Roy Lopez throw his guy aside and crush the pocket last week two plays in a row??
I was like, holy shyte Roy!! Dude was barely warm meat when he got here but is becoming a player

The Pats have a terrible OL. Don’t jump to any conclusions based on playing them

i guess this is a good spot for this question:

lets say the Cards are drafting at 17 (their current position)

Ashton Jeanty is on the board. do you take him?

no. too many other needs and we have a good RB room right now.

Great year still not sure how good he is due to level of competition

Except for Robinson, I don’t think and Card DL will preclude the Cards from drafting for the DL.
