While we are a good team--unexpectanly--we still need to stay the course for rebuilding. We need to be patient and keep our focus beyond this year. This is NOT the time for short term fixes.

OK... so we have all been caught off-guard and have been pleasantly suprised by this team. But now, after 23 games and working on a 5 game win streak, should we continue to be surprised?? I mean, I think it's safe at this stage to accept the reality that 1.) This team is extremely well coached, 2.) This team is extremely athletic, 3.) This team is extremely talents, and 4.) This team is very well put together - at least 7-8 deep.

When you compare this team to the successful Suns teams over the past 10-12 years, IMHO - this team stacks up very favorably and in some areas, may be better. No doubt the biggest hole is at the #1 position... I truly believe Plumlee would be a beast if he were a back-up at the #1, backing up a bigtime legit center and/or, starting at the #2.
But damn... Dragic, Bledsoe, Morris x 2, Tucker, Plumlee, Goodwin (can't wait to see the star he eventually develops into), Green (needs to mature but amazing athlete), Frye (not my favorite - too inconsistent)...
Then you consider all of the picks they have - some to be used in trades... How can you not be excited!! Go Suns!!

I hardly think Plumlee has the handle to play the #1. :D

You have your numbers backward. The center is #5 and PF is #4.

I agree though, this team is exciting again. We're one go-to big away from seriously contenting.

LoL! Not sure why I reversed the #'s... Must be Plumlee's athleticism that has me all confused! :)

And yes - my point was just that - we need a legit big-man who can be a major defensive force .

How screwy is the NBA this year... Only 3 teams in the east have a .500 record or better... 10 teams in the west!

Yeah, I thought the balance of power was supposed to be shifting back. It's getting even worse! I guess all those high draft picks aren't the be-all and end-all.

It actually works against the teams in the East. They have a good chance of adding the best couple of players to the worst teams but each year they have a couple of bad teams making the playoffs that draft lower than quality teams from the west. The worst team might get the occasional star but the team is so bad they have trouble holding onto them. At the same time, the 9th best team in the west gets a pretty good draft pick and adds it to a roster that is better than all but a couple of teams in the East. It's even worse too in that their actual records are inflated because they play the majority of their games against the eastern teams.

Yeah, good point.
